Nice work EB. I think you have the order of finish correct. Tatum gets Jefferson at home and that could be the difference in the district title. I also think you have the MVPs right on the money.

I will go ahead and throw out Sadarius Figures - Jefferson as the defensive newcomer of the year.

With just over a month I figured it was time to get in football mode.. I agree that this district will have 4 teams in the playoff hunt.. IMHO Jefferson and Tatum will be a notch above the others.

gotta go with new diana for 2nd or 3rd.

3rd maybe.. Unless something drastic happens I dont see them getting no better than 3rd..

Opening week of district will be a big game for ND/WO..

Also, as I said before things could/will change.. Its the nature of the beast we like to call high school football.

Good Job EAGLEBORN. played in a few of those games. The sabine game in 82, we had to score twice at the end of the game to win. Also in 81 they turned on the sprinklers on us.

HA... Spinklers came on against us in 96... It was already in the upper 30s and raining.

Bases on opponents W/L records of last year here is the order of SOS.. Keep in mind that its just W/L and not 2A or 3A or 4A or anything like that. None of that is factored in..

1- Jefferson- Had better % by a lot. Only one team they will play in preseason this year didn’t have a winning record.

2- New Diana- Had one opponent with losing record in preseason.

3- Tatum- If Bullard and Diboll didn’t combine to go 3-17 last year they would be higher up.

4- White Oak- Other factors would have dropped them lower, but based on just W/L here they are.

5- Harmony- play two opponents in preseason last yr with a winning record.

6- Sabine- played one team that ended with a winning record.

have you seen diana play ? or are you just basing your opinion on the fact most of the schools in the district are usually 3-A schools. diana and harmony have NEVER been 3-A

Havent seen them play this year lol... Saw them play last year against Dfield.. Granted there is no Dfield type of good teams in this district but Tatum and Jefferson have speed equal to Dfields.. Which will give ND plenty of trouble..

Mostly 3A schools? Has nothing to do with it..I know at least not in Tatums case. Since 1934 Tatum has been in 3A 20 seasons.. Im basing it on what teams have coming back talent wise..

Tatum didnt lose a single skill player from last years team unless you wanna count the twins who were TEs and got thrown to maybe 5 times all year. Returns 12 starters.

Jefferson lost alot of DI talent.. Returns 13 starters

White Oak returns 8 and have some pretty good OL guys

New Diana returns 9.. One of them IMHO being the only playermaker.

Harmony lost 18 of 22 starters..

Sabine is young, lost alot..

Im not knocking ND... But I dont see them finishing no better than 3rd.

Great job, eb.

I think you have it dead on. If the game Week 9 was in Jefferson, I may have voted for them, but as it is not, I went with the Eagles. Still think this will easily be the game of the year in the district.

If Rawls is Defensive MVP, that makes old District 17-2A look foolish, since he got no votes for 1st team LB last year. I think he could be, I'm just throwing that out there.

Jefferson's best group, IMO, is the class that will be soph's, so I think Tatum is gonna find a way this year, but the next two yrs. could be VERY good for Jefferson. A LOT of those Sophs will play on Friday this yr. Could be really good experience for them going into the next two yrs.

Sadarius Figures has the makings of a beast. If he plays as well as his brother in his body, he will be DI easily. BUT, he IS young, so we will see...

I've seen them play. Not sure what your beef is with EB, he is giving you his opinion (one I agree with by the way).

All the teams are 2A div. 1 now. Jefferson only has 33 more kids enrolled in the entire school than ND. So, what is your point?

Not really. Steve Edmond, Clarence Lee, Josh Evans, Cody Belyeu, Scott Irvin, Billy Walker, Greg Gaston all played in 17-2A last year. I don't think the coaches were disrespecting Mr. Rawls, I just believe the position was stacked in that district last year.

It's a message board (meaning the conversation is open to everyone). If you want to have a private conversation, you can always PM.

Just sounded like you were taking offense to what EB posted, which was his opinion. It's ok to have differing opinions.

I think EB gave a pretty reasoned response to support his opinion. Haven't seen any reasoning from your end. Just an observation. :fear:

They divided OLB and ILB, if I am not mistaken, and I know for sure that eliminates C.Lee and Belyeu. Scott Irvin was a SS, not an LB. Edmond is a given. That leaves Evans, Walker, and Gaston. Gaston didn't post NEAR the numbers, don't remeber the #'s for the other 2. If I'm not mistaken, Rawls had the second highest tackle total in the district, yet he gets zero votes.

If anything, it just more proof of what most of us know, the process is completely political, and kids get in that don't deserve it, and kids get left out that do.

All I am saying is if you go from getting NO votes, to the Defensive player of the year, it looks odd to me. Makes the old district look strange, IMO.

Not that I'm hoping he DOESN'T get it!
