KrookedWolfe Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 :hmm: Gilmer all over Pittsburg like a red-headed step-child. This won't even be close.
SnapTX Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Gilmer all over Pittsburg like a red-headed step-child. This won't even be close. I agree, Gilmer is going to whip Pitt.
myomy Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 :hmm: I am sure glad that we don't have any red headed step kids. Do we? Nah, but we do have a running game now and our defense is getting better. OL is growing up and, hold on, my red headed step child is calling.....Yes We Will....come and watch
KrookedWolfe Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010  ..As expected--Pitt will take the underdog role..The running back position has improved..Sophmore went for 165 against Gladewater and didn't get a snap last night due to the stellar performance from Hashaway...Defense is much better and I was very impressed with how Pitt defended the screen plays... Gonna be a good one... rollbama Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Gilmer all over Pittsburg like a red-headed step-child. This won't even be close. Not so fast my friend as Corso would say, Pitt will always play the Buxs tough and remember a few years back when Gilmer won state the toughest game Gilmer had was Pitt, the score was 21 to 20. I will be pulling for Gilmer but they had better not have a letdown, should be a good one.

And another difference was that while it was technically for a share of the district title had Pitt pulled the upset, Gilmer had already clinched a playoff spot and was just tuning up at that point. But Manuel Johnson wanted the perfect record to stay intact badly enough that he willed them to victory in the final minutes with the bomb to Tay Bowser. I also remember Daniel Dodd, our best player on defense, being out that night, and he definitely was missed. This is not to take anything away from Pittsburg. Aside from the Jasper game, that was no doubt the closest anyone played Gilmer that year.
WORKem Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Either way I think we (LE) will play the winner. We have already played Gilmer and would not mind another match up, but would like to see a good Pitt team in the 1st round. Bring on whoever, we will show up and play hard and hopefullly get out of round 1 and play a while.
DallasCowboyzFan Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 from what i heard from players from opposing teams playing gilmer say there not that good and not to make mistakes early and pitt will win Well lets see what you think about the Buckeyes after friday night. The kids saying these things were probably the ones that Gilmer beat.

KrookedWolfe Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Billy Martin in 2004.. If I remember correctly they had a running back named Billy something that give the Buckeyes fits.
PittAg Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 That would be Billy Martin............He is now coaching at Pine Tree. Whatever the outcome of the game Friday night, we are still proud of our Pitt Pirates!!! We have a great group of players and coaches that we are very proud of!!!

Eagle8 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 We've played both and to be honest.....Gilmer should win this one by 30, I said should, didn't say they would. This district has been so erratic. I guarantee that the matchups in this district have caused a lot of people to feel very very stupid with the predictions they've made. Talent wise...Pitt is no where near the level of Gilmer. Gilmer is head and shoulders above them. The main thing is, you have got to get pressure on Manley all game. If you cant do it, he will make this a close game. He hates getting hit and the more you put him on the ground, the less accurate he gets and he starts rushing his passes. If you give him all day he will pick you apart. They will likely throw 40 screens, lol. They love the screen pass. Gilmer's offense, IF THEY HOLD ON TO THE BALL, will walk all over their defense. The "real deal" players that stick out for me on Pitts team would be LB Koe Wetzel(kid is all over the place), RB Billy Hashaway(they dont use him enough but hes good), and QB Mitch Manley(only if hes not pressured though) With this being said....I'll take Gilmer, but just dont turn the ball over guys.
JBizzle Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Gilmer by 7. I didn't get to see either team play Carthage, as I was working nights, so I am going with what I heard on the radio combined with my gut. I could be way off.
Payzone Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 If Gilmer can get to the young man at QB, they can possibly disrupt the passing game. Carthage hit him hard and ALOT. That QB's got heart though. I can't imagine taking those hits...over...and over...and over again. Good luck to both teams.
KrookedWolfe Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 What about the 406 yrds Tatum put up against Pitt or how weak our run defense is? :smirk: Dude you are the worst prognosticator that I know..Everybody understands why you in particular spends so much time trying to validate Gilmer... :bangin: Because the little green team beat them..You want them to do well because in your mind it makes Tatum look better..Gilmers only advantage over Pitt is simply coaching..Pitt has way more athletes.. Let me put it to ya plainly---If Pitts qb doesn't turn the ball over, Pitt cruises to victory..If the coaches run the plays that work and try not to dictate how they win-Pitt extends their play next week...Turnovers and penalties are Pitts worst enemy..Of the 23 turnovers on the year 19 have came from one position..If we take care of that, then we take care of Gilmer... LOL, the run defense is weak....Gus Johnson will have a field day. In no way am I trying to validate Gilmer and why would I need to validate Gilmer in this game if we've already beat both of you?. This is the first Gilmer post I've really made a prediction on since before the Gilmer/Carthage game. So no, thats the least of my worries. And we dont need the 47-41 win over Gilmer to make us look good....we could hang our hat on the 41-17 win over ya'll for that matter, lol. I was just stating that we had seen both teams, and I gave my personal thought on how it would end up. Pitt just does not match up with Gilmer...plain and simple. You obviously haven't seen both teams if you think coaching is there only advantage. But you'll find that out friday night.

One part of our game that we didn't do against Tatum and Henderson and haven't done enough is our running game. It was not because of Tatum's defense that we tried to pass so much. If Pitt runs the ball at least 20 times, we will control the clock and the score board at the end of the game. I believe that we will be more balanced on offense and more aggressive on defense.
