This game seems to have it's swagger with the drop in stock for district champ. Had both teams come into the game undefeated in district play this game would be winner take all. As it stands, only DeSoto has the shot to win it outright with a win. It's still going to be a good game and probably a high scoring affair. 41-40 LV

Desoto doesn't have much of a d so Longview should be able to control clock with run game. Key to game is longview keeping desoto offense off the field, they are just too good on offense and if you give them the ball they will prolly score.

Longview has shown all year they can compete with anyone...but they will need a complete game to have a chance in this one. No bad quarters or it will not be a win. DeSoto can score a lot of points in a hurry but they are like a lot of Dallas-area schools in that they put their best athletes on offense and play the other guys on defense. I know a lot of people whine about Longview's offensive scheme but it works to their advantage in games like this. Controlling the ball and running the clock will be the key in this one.

Longview is going to have to Run the ball to perfection. A few reverses to the speedsters outwide wouldn't hurt either. Desoto's D is horrible, but they make up for it with the O. We will have to play lights out defense..with that said..

longview has lost for the first time a home in 7 yrs. then they lost their district game in some yrs. so it is safe to say if they don't play hard against DeSoto they will lose

 

The same could be said if they were undefeated this year: if they don't play hard they will lose.

 

So yeah, Longview needs to play the best they can, especially on defense. If they do, and if they limit penalties and turnovers, they'll win this one by 10. Dunno if the defensive starters will be back or not, but if they are, look out. Longview's offense needs to do much better than the 14 against NMHS and 28 against Lee. And the 13 against Horn.

They will get rolled Friday night. Lobo's just don't have the offense to keep up.

They don't have a good enough d to stop longview's run game. We have played this same type offense with outrageous stats and beat them. Like south garland in 2006 I think. People said we ha no chance to keep up but we beat them bc of defense.

So you use the running game and drive the ball down the field and score on a five minute drive. Desoto turns around and score their own in 2 mins. Tie game. Lobos have to score every possession and they wont be able to line up run it down Desoto's throat. When you do have a successful drive, King will call a bootleg and QB will lose eight. Drive killer..... Bring on the punt team! Lobo offense will not score enough to keep up.....

 

It's 2010 not 2006..... When you punt as many times as you did against Horn you will be behind by several TD's... Plain and simple.........Bank on it.

Sorry coaches King, Jones, and Smith....but DeSoto will win in football, boys b/ball, and REALLY big in girls b/ball.

In football DeSoto by 10, boys b/ball DeSoto by 7, but in girls basketball DeSoto by 24! "Go Eagles."

U r giving desoto way to much credit and not near enough to Longview. It has been proven that desoto can be slowed down. North mesquite held them to 30 and rrsp held them too. And mesquite scored 35 on them and they are horrible. Horn scored 47 on them. They barely beat Tyler lee and nm also. Not sure how you can predict a 28 point win against Longview. We all know Longview has had probs on offense but they will come ready Friday. They may lose but it won't be by 28 as u say.

you sound like alot of abilene fans who that thought there was no way longview would beat them...but those who know longview knew it would be a game. same here. just as longview o has struggled desoto d has struggled and wont be able to contain longview's run game. and you say longview will drive for 5 mins and desoto will score in 2 mins but longview will do a good job of keeping desoto from the big pass play...that will be a key to victory for them.
