Mavchamp Posted February 15, 2011 Author Share Posted February 15, 2011 From what I understand....they are waiting for the Louisiana alignment which is in March I believe. I have heard conflicting stories on who that game will be. I've been told it could be Neville, could be Huntington... and I've even heard Evangel or Calvary. So to be honest......no clue. I'm not sure anyone knows until the alignment comes out. No one in Texas can be scheduled because their alignment is opposite years of La. No one in Texas is looking for schedule changes. I think another issue is trying to get another home game. We are due to travel to Neville this year if the series continues and that would give us too few home games (no home games in the first month of the season). Shreveport Huntington would always come here......so I'm thinking it will be them. Unfortunately. Hopefully it will be finalized soon though. I dont remember it, I was too young.....but I've been told back in the 80's Marshall had a great series with Carthage. Given the Bulldog's success, their new stadium, being so close to each other.....I'd love to see the series return. It would be a promised sellout both years in each stadium. The scores say these were some evenly matched teams. The scores also say these were some good games to watch. Good job to all the first round winners and good season to the teams that came up short. The victory leaves this Marshall team just one win short of the all-time season victory record set by the 2001 Mavs, who were (28-7) when they advanced to the 5A Region II semis. The Mavs will take on the Hutto Hippos Friday night at the Patriot Center on the UT-Tyler campus in their Area round game. Congrats to the Mavs!!!! GO MAVS GO!!! Mavchamp Posted February 23, 2011 Author Share Posted February 23, 2011 I'll always generally go with a district champion over a 4th place team. But WH is a TOUGH 4th place team. They split with Marshall and gave JT a couple of good games. I'm not sure what to think about the quality of 13-4A, since I never saw anyone from the district.....but it sounds like Royce City and Denison were just completely out of their league. I think this is the first sweep in the playoffs. They two districts have been amazingly even when we've met in the post season. I have a feeling that will continue with baseball and softball.
