3 runners were DQ'ed, so only 5 finished the race

Crockett kid ran the best time in the prelims, but DQ'd in the finals along with runners from Troup and Daingerfield. Crockett runner ran a 10.92 in the prelims and a 10.98 won the finals. Tough but the kid is a junior and will be back next year. Congrats to the kids from Groveton and L-K on advancing to Austin.

Second year in a row the kid from Daingerfield has been DQed at Regionals. Both years he had a great chance of making it to state. Hate it for him, but "them's the rules."

I hate that for the kids...

One thing I do like this yr is the wildcard they are having. Gives schools a chance to get another kid in. In Tatums case that could mean the 4x4 and 200.. Thrower thought maybe so but Region IV had 5 kids throw over 155... Thats slinging.

Can anybody explain what happened to the Tatum track team. I read on the UIL web page that Tatum only qualified the 1600 relay team. What happened to the rest such as the 400 meter relay, the 300 hurdles, 110 hurdles, 200 meter, and so on. Just want to know. Thanks.

Last year the district winner won district by 0.01, and that 2nd place finisher finished 8th at regionals.

Monday's prelim times to qualify for the finals---10.92, 11.00, 11.13, 11.15, 11.21, 11.23, 11.41, and """11.42"""

had a GREAT chance of making it to state both years.

Some of those shots sounded like the shell may have gotton wet or light loaded while others were a loud bang.

Only top 2 go, right? I heard Clay Williams of DeKalb missed out on 2nd by a photo finish and that they almost called it a dead heat and let 3 go, but in the end determined that Linwood was 2nd with a 11.06 and Williams was 3rd with a 11.08.

Top 2 in each region plus the fast 3rd place time from whichever region. UIL is letting 9 run at state now...

Looks like there was a tie for 2nd in region 2. They have both of them listed as 2nd place on the results so are they letting 3 go out of this region?? If so, that will make 9 already so are they even gonna take a wildcard?

See all results here.

I saw that... You make a good point... Surely they have some tie breaker that no one knows about.

I might be the only one but UIL should take the top 9 to state no matter what region they come from. Would make for better races thats for sure.

Out of the 2 tied for 2nd in Region II, the runner listed first on the results sheet, Larry Busby, had a slower prelim time than the runner listed second, Chris Batisse,so it doesn't appear they are using prelim times to break the tie.

And it looks like the Busby kid was the 2A 100 meter state champion in 2010. Wonder if that carries any weight?? LOL

Random draw on all ties for the number 9 spot in Austin.

I understand that if you have 8 qualify, but just not sure how that will work in the 2A 100 meters. It looks to me as if 9 have already qualified out of the regionals unless they are going to break the tie for 2nd in Region II. Which to me, there would be no FAIR way to break the tie when they both ran the exact same time in the finals.

There is a fair way to break that tie, but it would have had to be done that day of the finals in that region.....the fair way is to have a "RUN OFF"........with only those 2 allowed to run............or also, as was stated, before the meet, you could let everyone know that a tie in running events will be broken by prelim times.................I am not saying those are the only 2 ways, but that is 2 ways

You are right cotton....I guess I should have worded it to read that there is not really a fair way AT THIS POINT. And they may have actually broken the tie at the meet and only one of them are going to state, but we just don't know. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
