The Teague Lions won the District Track Championship in Eustace last night. The Lions held off a late rally by the host Bulldogs who scored 40 points in the mile and mile relay events. In the mile relay it was a photo finish between Teague and Eustace with Eustace winning but the Lions 2nd place finish enabled them to maintain their lead and capture the District Championship. The Lions will be sending 12 to the regional meet including all 3 relay teams.Defending 2a 100 meter champ Larry Busby who is still recovering from a broken leg suffered in the Crockett football game won the 100 meters and is on the sprint relay team.Busby who is still not 100 per cent will now have another 2 weeks to mend before the Regional meet.It was a great effort by the Lions and the JV Lions also captured the district title in a runaway. Also the JR High had a very good year as well with the 8th grade finishing 2nd and the 7th grade winning 1st place. The 8th grade would have won 1st but was dq in the 800 relay a race they won by over 100 meters for a lane violation.Congrats to Coach Brandon Layne and the Lions track program for a very good year that is still not over.Look for the Lions to do well in Stephenville at Regionals.

The Teague Lions would like to thank the Buffalo ISD for allowing our team to workout on their track.Lion stadium is currently under repair with the new turf and track almost finished'Work has started on the bleachers, concessions and the new fieldhouse. The indoor practice facility will begin soon along with the new paved parking lots.Things are really starting to take shape here in Lion Country !!!

Its like Nascar...go as fast as you can and turn left!!!

Seriously, I just wanted to give a big thanks to Coach Layne and Coach Coffman...they have done a great job and put in lots and lots of extra time overcoming some tough circumstances...no track to practice on or pits to jump in meant they had to spend a lot more time than normal...also would like to publicly say how proud I am for Larry Busby...this young man suffered a broken femur late in football season and most thought he would never compete again...this young man has worked through lots of pain and tough, tough rehab to return to the track...they ran a regional qualifer Thursday and this young man ran a 11.1 FAT time!!! Great job Larry!!! Proud of you!!

Amen Brother,Coach Josh Finney has put together one heck of a staff at Teague. The overall Program is in great shape now since the new staff has been put in place.District championships in Basketball,Track, Baseball and turning a 1-9 Football team into a 7-4 playoff team in their 1st year together.Next year the Track team will be able to practice in one of the finest faclities in the area and this team is a made up of mostly underclassmen.Blessed, people didnt think Larry could or would make that comeback but he has even though he still is not 100 per cent.Good luck to the Lions as they travel to Stephenville for regionals.
