eagles66
With the move of Coach Rush of JT to Conroe I wondered who are the long time coaches left in East Texas that have stayed at the same school ? I know Barry Norton (TX High) and John King (Longview) have been at their schools a long time, but who are the others ? All classifications should be considered and if you know the years they have been there, please post. I'm not sure on the years King and Norton have been the head coach at their schools. To me, it seems like coaches are coming and going a lot more now then in past years. All comments welcomed.

topher805
Jerry Richards from Grapeland has been there around 36 years give or take a few. Don't remember off the top of my head the exact number. WP4L
King has bn head since 04 r 05 I thk...assistant frm '99 up until then King was OC under Pat Collins from 99-03. He took over as HC in 2004 and the rest is history, literally. He's had the best era of Lobo football of any past Lobo coach. You have to love the guy too. King hardly misses a middle school or little league football game. He's had the chance of leaving Longview several times with job offers, both college and high school. But anyone who's talked with King will tell you that he's a Lobo through and through. His son wants to be a Lobo and King plans on retiring a Lobo. Playoff history and records: 2004 (Lost to Lufkin in the regionals, finished 12-1) 2005 (Lost to South Garland in the Bi, finished 10-1) 2006 (Lost to Garland in area, who lost to eventual state champ Cedar Hill in the quarters, finished 9-3) 2007 (Lost to state finalist Pflugerville in the quarters, finished 12-2) 2008 (state finalist, lost to LT, finished 13-3) 2009 (state finalist, lost to LT, finished 14-2) 2010 (Lost to state finalist Guyer in the semis, finished 10-5) 2011 (Lost to state champ Dekaney in the regionals, finished 11-2)

I know he was extremely close to going to Henderson in '06 before that ended. Agreed with everything you said though. Fully believe he'll bring us a state title soon. We're extremely lucky to have a coach like him.

BigRedFan
Winnsboro's Steve Pinnell started out as an assistant coach to Doug Willliams and was promoted to Head Coach/AD in 1999. He is the winningest coach in Winnsboro football history. He will likely stick around for several more years since he has two children in high school next year. Homegrown boy has done well for himself and his family. Refer to the historical section of this site to see his wins.
