Coach Rab
Did I say they were winning the conference? Last time I checked my post I said they are having success. NOT the same thing as saying they are winning the conference. Nice try though. You brought up that the aggies have failed to win the big xii, then mention SEC success... Define success... Bowl.game? Winning record? Aggies managed decent seasons in those 13 yrs in the Big XIi despite some bad coaches and being dominated by burnt orange and crimson and cream in recruiting and on the field. Coach Rab
Yeah a BCS bid does not seem likely. I agree but if they can get manzeil as a heisman finalist and top 10 BCS that could make them a sexier at large than LSU, UF, UGA, USCarolina, etc.

I'm not trying to argue with you, but you need to re-read my post. I didn't say anything about the Aggies not being able to win the Big 12 (that would be incorrect as they won it in '98). I said they couldn't win IN the Big 12...BIG difference. As for my definition of success, they averaged 4 conference wins per year in the Big 12, they already have more than that in the SEC. They averaged only 6 wins overall per year while in the Big 12, they already have more than that.

h-town12
Did they change the rule about conferences only being able to have 2 teams in BCS bowls? It would be us and Bama in a bcs bowl. ESPN's reasoning was Manziel is one of the top players in the country and A&M would bring a lot of fans.

The BCS bowls actually have their preference of whatever team they want from that conference as long as they are in the top 12 of the BCS standings, unless that has changed as well. Aggies could be 10th behind the rest of the SEC, but if the Fiesta sees more profit in A&M they can choose them over the higher ranked teams. et_football
Mavgrad99 is correct. After the AQ's are accounted for (likely seven in all this year), the BCS bowls can make at large selections from any of the remaining top 14 teams that have won at least 9 games. The Fiesta Bowl has the first at large pick this year, so we will just have wait and see what happens. BCS Selection Process
Taco90
The BCS is about hypothetically putting the #1 and #2 teams in a game...and then making as much money as possible. It is a joke, and college football is a joke.

BCS Selection Process Important exerpt: "At-large eligibility If there are fewer than 10 automatic qualifiers, then the bowls will select at-large participants to fill the remaining berths. An at-large team is any Football Bowl Subdivision team that is bowl-eligible and meets the following requirements: A. Has won at least nine regular-season games, and B. Is among the top 14 teams in the final BCS Standings. No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings." Unless the SEC has #1 & #2, they have two BCS berths maximum by rule.

It is a joke, and college football is a joke. While I agree somewhat on the BCS, college football is no joke. It will be better when the format is changed to the Top 4 teams. I personally would like to see it go to 16 teams with all conference champions getting an automatic bid. There's no reason to continue with 12 game regular seasons when the majority of top ranked teams are playing 2-3 nobodys for non-conference games. Go back to 10 game regular season and let's have a real end of the season playoff like EVERYONE else in the NCAA.

Lhornfan
Exactly. The SEC champion will go to the Sugar or NC depending on these last few weeks and I believe A&M or LSU will be selected as the other Neither LSU or A&M plays anybody to gain ground. There only hopes lie with other teams losing. Florida can make a move with a win over Florida State, and South Carolina can make a move with a win over Clemson. And Georgia stakes a claim as long as they beat Georgia Tech and win the SEC Championship. LSU will remain above A&M because Arkansas and Auburn (although both really #### this year) are still considered better opponents than Sam Houston St. (really? this late in the season?) and Mizzou. LSU has to hope for a Florida loss and the loser of the SEC Championship to get blown out. Of course this is only my opinion.

Would UF be a better sell than the aggies or Tigers? Only for the Orange Bowl in my opinion. Georgia actually could beat Alabama. They are flying under the radar more than any other SEC team. Their loss to USC was early in the season to a healthy Gamecock squad. If that happens then I am not sure what that would do to Bama (assuming they win the west)
