DLine06
Lol dude, get over yourself. I thought my team would win, yeah what fan wouldn't. I wasn't one of the ones saying we would win big. Lmao my opinion matters just as much as yours, how old are you? 2? Played El Campo 3rd round in the 2004-2005 seaaon....we bent on defense but never broke. Congrats to those young men...represent your high school and go win a title.
troop6
Congrats to El Campo on the win.... The only team that beat Carthage was Carthage! Not taking anything away from El Campo you got the W and that is what counts... To many mistakes by Carthage, dropped passes and fumbles, which gave El Campo the game. I still love my Dawgs and I think the Coaching staff is the best in the State. But make no mistake my Dawgs are young and most will be back next year... troop6
No they won't. BTW, any barbecued crow over here? No Crow for me! El Campo won with the help of Carthage... Good luck next week but I don't believe luck will help El Campo against Sville....
Starlinmarlin
Congrats to EC on a hard fought win! Hats off to Carthage, they were everything I thought they would be and played a tough game. Both teams had plays that went against them, EC just found a way to overcome them in the end. This game was not gift wrapped in any way. Carthage had a couple of trick plays work for them and in the end one didn't. If it would have worked it would have been a great coaching move. Carthage has a lot to look forward to next year with an outstanding line of Jr's comming back. Golden is a beast! Can't wait to root for him next year in Aggie Land! A Carthage fan posted on this thread somewhere, what the heck is a ricebird anyway? Well of course everyone knows that EC is deep in the rice belt and a ricebird is common in the rice fields around here. But in EC, we all know that a Rice Bird really is. A Rice Bird is someone that believes, plays with all their heart and gives it their all. But most importantly, a Rice Bird win or lose, never quits! Let's go get Stephenville Birds! We can ALL analyze, & we shoulda, & we coulda, can go on forever but The only thing that counts is what the scoreboard says at the end of the Game! Thanks to both teams for playing a great & emotional game for ALL Players and Fans!!! From a VERY BLESSED Ricebird Mom!
MWall
First off I want to apologize for the overexcited birds in here, I don't care who was talking trash first let's keep it classy. Secondly, I don't think it's fair to say Carthage lost this on their own, you can basically trivialize any loss to that. However, the turnover differential went in Carthage's favor, and they got the ball twice in our territory and failed to capitalize. We did the same with the first Carthage turnover, and we also had a costly bounce into your RB's hands that helped sustain a drive on 4th down. So there was a lot of luck swinging both ways, and El Campo gave Carthage many gifts in this game as well. Also, even if you wouldn't of fumbled, with the amount of time and our 2 timeouts and the tackle for loss you just took we still could have stopped you and won. So let's just give credit to both teams for what was truly an epic game. Also, I would like to comment on some of the people saying we're some team that just bully's these crappy teams and how we were going to finally receive a whooping. Let me tell you something about El Campo football. We have competed in 4A with the basic population of a 3A team for many years. I believe we were close to 6-10 students off from being moved to 3A 2 years ago when the UIL last evaluated. Our district in 4A actually used to be a power house and still has some great teams. Lamar Consolidated won state with Jacquizz Rodgers when I was a junior against RG3 and Coperas Cove. Angleton is always good and went quite far this year, and Terry went pretty far as well. We are a very very physical team that is usually working with less talent and size than the teams we play. We are used to being underdogs against big 5A schools in non-district games and going in and blowing them out. Look what we did to Houston Westside, and schools like Yates. Each year we've lost to LaMarque in the playoffs they have gone quite far, and the games were quite competitive. The last time we played them we lost on a blown coverage with like 45 seconds to go when we had the lead, and they went to state. We have consistently been one of the most winningest teams in High School football and always made a decent run into the playoffs and lost to teams we definitely could have beaten. So I would learn about a program before you start tossing around nonsense that holds no true weight. Congratulations on your effort Carthage, was a good game. MWall
Good Game? That was a GREAT GAME! There's no way ANY Player on either team could walk away from that game with their head down! All those boys, Dawgs & Birds played a hell of a game! It looked to me lke both teams played with all their heart, they both wanted the Win bad, that's the game! & that's life, we ALL can't be Winners all the time! But we can All Try & be repectful & humble whichever side we end up on! Great Game Dawgs & Ricebirds! Wouldn't have wanted to be anyplace else for a Friday Night LIghts GAME!! MWall
I am not a Carthage fan, but that game was gift wrapped for el campo...you guys got lucky because of a bone head play...I hope stephenville beats the #### out of you....learn how to win with class... You must have not been at the game! No Gift Wrapping paper anywhere! That was a hard played game by Dawgs & Birds both. That game could have went either way & did through some quarters. Basically, it was who was ahead in the 4th quarter when time ran out! That's the game I witnessed! Most AWESOME Game played by ALL the boys! Of course proud of the Ricebirds, that's my Team, but proud of Carthage for being such Great Competition! That's what football is about! Heart pounding, crowd screaming, don't know if you're going to win or lose, most exciting game! That's Texas HS Football!!!

El Campo fumbled twice, threw an interception, had dropped balls as well, and they only capitalized on one of Carthage's turnovers. Seriously, you can almost trivialize any team into beating themselves, but that's just simply not how it is. The turnover differential was in Carthage's favor, they had more gifts than El Campo did all game long.
96Bearkat
Yep, I had a feeling this would be a close one, but I didn't see Carthage losing in the end. Coach Rab
Congrats on your season. The bickering is ridiculous. You lost because of mistakes. That is not a gift. That is a lack of discipline or focus in most cases. Own up to your mistakes. You didn't "give" El Campo the game. They still had to score the points. You messed up in more critical situations than they did. Again, great season moving forward. It doesn't look like talent is leaving Carthage any time soon. Liberty
Well it was a good game for the spectator. Thought Carthage made too many mistakes, and when you play against a pretty good team, mistakes will kill ya. Both teams made them, but the Dawgs made it in the wrong end of the field. Congrats to the Ricebirds. I wish you well in the championship. I will say this; I congratulated many of the Ricebrid fans and told them to bring the title home. Some of the rudest people I've ever talked too. They wouldn't even respond. Wow! Really? Congrats to the kids though.
JBizzle
Congrats to El Campo on the win! The QB is a hard nosed S O B! He ran hard and took shots all night and never looked like he thought twice about going back for more. El campo played better when it mattered and you gotta tip your hat to those young men. Crowd was good on that side too! As far as the Dawgs, congrats on another great season. Nothing to hang your head about after that. Your town is proud of the effort that was given and appreciate how y'all represented us all season. The good news is, most of these kids will be back for another run! It starts next week! I will have my crow in a few days...I like to stew it with lots of onions, jalapeños, and a while bunch of other strong ingredients, cuz it's terrible. I am still heartbroken for our kids. I actually saw the opposite. All the Ricebird fans I saw leaving the game were congratulating the Carthage fans on a good game. Most of their fans only gave dirty looks. I think there is always a few fans for any team that show poor sportsmanship. I'm proud of EC as mass of the town always wins and looses with great aditude. Starlinmarlin
Silsbee is better than El Campo. Carthage by at least 21. If we can somehow go a game without a turnover then I see the reserves playing the entire 4th quarter. Region 4 was very weak! Only tough thing about this game is having to drive all the way to Beaumont. Hey former bulldog, remeber this post? Not trying to rub it in or anything, as I thought Carthage was one ##ll of a team and played a great game! One of the top two most exciting HS games I have been too. Just saw this browsing a little while ago and couldn't resist, LOL. I think you riled up a few Ricebird fans. I think a little more respect was deserved. flounder, on 12 November 2012 - 09:09 PM, said: There is a 3A team on the coast that just moved down from 4A that is dang good. If they get past La Grange this week then they will make it to the semi finals due to region 4 being as week as region 3. It really doesn't matter because there is absolutely NO WAY El Campo can hang with Carthage. That would be an embarassing end to a great season for them. East Texas Football will shock those boys. RICEBIRDS
1354651131[/url]' post='1837663']They didn't score in the redone 4 times as they only made it into the redzone on drives 2 times. One leading to a 11yrd TD run and the other ending on downs after a great pass breakup in the end zone. Their other two scores came on long pass plays. EC gave up the big play against Ingleside a few times. Half of their yards came on 3 plays. Overall EC dominated the game. Ingleside had no chance of stopping the birds all night. So I guess what you saying is that your coach buddy has sour grapes. Wether it's an inch or a mile winning is winning! So them beating a 4a district champion is irrelevant. Actually, EC didn't run through East Texas or Carthage, you played one East Texas team, and won in the last few minutes by 5 points from a mistake Carthage made.
