player73 Posted August 4, 2013 Share Posted August 4, 2013 The # 1 ranked Mart Panthers in Class 1a D1 travel to Teague # 10 ranked team in Class 2a D1 to open the season.This game ended in a 35 - 34 win for Mart last year and Football fans should expected nothing less this year.This game last year sent a message throughout the area that Teague would be a different team in Coach Daniel Johnsons 1st year.This game will feature at least four All-Staters in Teague's Qb Skinner and Wr Mitchell.Mart counters with Qb Thomas and Lb Nail. I haven't seen you guys (Teague) but I would think if you can win upfront then you have a real good chance to get a win to start the year. I think Mart will be very very good by the time it is all said and done, but they have to replace some guys upfront who were really good. Getting them early definitely helps. We all know Teague is going to put some points up on the scoreboard this year, but the defense probably will decide how good this team can be. player73 Posted August 5, 2013 Author Share Posted August 5, 2013 Teague's offensive and defensive line's are going to surprise people this year.They have good size and quickness.Everyone is saying that Teague's defense will determined how good and far this Teague team will go and no one ( even Teague folks ) can agrue that.IMO ,the defense will much improve as the line and secondary can hold their own but need the Linebackers to step up where graduation hit. Everyone is excited about the upcoming year and the future here in Teague. Mart will be a great team to open the season with. Last year's game was very entertaining to say the least. And yet Teague has still never made it past the second round of the playoffs and usually does not get that far, they have what...........three playoff wins in their entire history? Teague does not even have the historical success that A team in their own district (Franklin)has INFINITELY more playoff success than Teague. Teague fans talk like they are Newton, Daingerfield, Katy, and Lake Highlands all rolled into one. Wake me when all the chest beating matches the product on the field.
