Bock
Girls schedule starts tonight Boys games begin next Friday (Jan 10th) Post your thought and game scores. Good Luck to all schools. Girls favorites - Paris and Pl Grove, dont know much about the rest of squads but from reports think these two are ahead of the other schools Boys favorites - Paris/NLamar/PG (?) really dont see a clear cut favorite on this side
Parisian
This could be one of those years on the boys' side where the district champion has 3 losses. Don't count out L-E; the Leopards usually put it together around district time. They definitely miss Hall inside, but they'll be a tough out. Road wins will be at a premium regardless of the opponent. The girls' race should be between Paris and PG.
isaiah05
I hope Pitt boys do good I was the head coach there last year they should have 7 kids returning from last year even tho we didn't win a district game we played paris close at home. I haven't kept up with them this year but I hope they do great good luck Pitt.

Parisian
Paris Lady Cats opened with an impressive 52-32 win over North Lamar even without senior point guard Luey Bronner, who missed due to illness. Pleasant Grove struggled to beat Pittsburg and Atlanta edged Liberty-Eylau in other girls' openers Friday. Paris and PG meet on Jan. 17 in Paris in a game that should decide the early district lead on the girls' side.

Agree with ya Parisian...do not see that anyone on the boys side running the table...the top teams are not as strong as last year. With four teams going to dance contest think that LE/Paris/PG should advance with others fighting it out for fourth spot... Girls should come down to paris/pg with pitt & nl in the other two spots... Road wins always a premium in district schedules
Parisian
Boys Scores: @North Lamar 55, Pittsburg 35 Paris 71, @Atlanta 65 @L-E 71, PG 60 Girls Scores: Pitt 40, NL 39 Paris 72, Atlanta 44 PG 68, L-E 39 Just got back from making the long trip to Atlanta. What a miserable display of basketball. Like watching toddlers who still need training wheels attempt to race in NASCAR. (55 combined turnovers and a convention of bricks & airballs) I thought this district might provide 1, maybe even 2 qualifiers for the regional tournament. Not any more. Still, it was a road win. Take em when you can get em. The girls appear headed toward next Friday's early showdown (3-0 PG at 3-0 Paris). Paris still has to get by a trip to 2-1 Pitt on Tuesday. Atlanta is 1-2, while NL and L-E are both 0-3.

Parisian
Girls Race: Kudos to the Lady Hawks last night for a road win, especially Britte Wacha and Renee Walker, who took over the game in the 4th quarter. A very disappointing showing by the Paris girls, who were rattled early and late by pressure and must have missed at least 40 shots in the paint. Pitt has a shot at the spoiler's role, but this one should come down to the Feb. 4 rematch at Texarkana. Boys Race: Entertaining game last night between Paris and PG boys. Seljah Johnson of Paris scored 31 (four 3's) and Jason Smith of PG had 30 (five 3's). Smith was unstoppable in the second half, scoring 24). Total of 15 treys in the game. Paris is at NL Tuesday in an early showdown in a matchup of the two teams with the best inside presence in the district. It will be a key week ahead. Next Friday L-E is at Paris and NL at PG. Looking at the playoff bracket, you don't want to finish 2nd or 3rd in district. You'd probably have a gauntlet of Kilgore and Athens to run. The 1st and 4th seeds have a chance to get to regionals. Of course, the road ends there regardless.
futfan
Brette and Renee are doing a great job for the Lady Hawks. I know it was a big win for PG, (especially on the road) as Paris appeared to be the odds on favorite for district in the pre-season. The Hawks are not as big, obviously, without Dustin, but ever school has to deal every year with graduation. Corey Menah has really stepped up this year, and the Hawks know how tough Region is to play in, making it is no small feat for this district. Should be a great intra-city match tomorrow. Bock
two good games played at paris on friday...all four teams got after it on the court... Pg girls won the game during the stretch during third/fourth qtr when their offense stalled...got several stops and hit a few baskets to maintain the score then were able to keep pressure on paris who seemed to get tired late in 4th qtr...good job by all the girls on both teams PG boys just got to get some consistency in their play...have to rebound better in next set of games paris hurt hawks inside should be some good games in district play this week...still think girls should be paris/pg and boys is still a tossup...lamar county is a tough place to get wins for the visiting team...paris has improved lots from when I saw them earlier in the season on a side note...I have not watched a Referee so worried about what was being said in the bleachers as that one dude was...by my count he had four different confrontations with four different fans during girls/boys games... Parisian
Paris girls escaped North Lamar with a 58-55 win in overtime tonight. The Lady Cats continued a dreadful streak of missed shots in the paint and turnovers that began midway through the 3rd quarter of the Pitt game, then last Friday vs. Pleasant Grove. North Lamar had a 45-36 lead with 2:03 left and 2 Paris starters already fouled out. Lady Cats went on an 11-2 run to close out regulation on back-to-back 3-pointers by Luey Bronner (the first one with 14.9 seconds remaining, then, following a Pantherette turnover in the backcourt, the game-tying shot as time expired. In overtime, Bronner hit 7 of 10 free throws and dished on a baseline drive to Nish Robins for a layup and foul shot which gave Paris the lead for good. The Panther Gym was half-full. Nobody expected this close a game. It will be jam packed Tuesday night for the boys, but they'll have a far piece to go to top this one. Paris girls now 5-1. NL is 1-5 but improving. Parisian
Boys scores Friday: Paris 89, Liberty-Eylau 50 Pleasant Grove 49, North Lamar 44 Atlanta 82, Pittsburg 54 Boys standings: NL, Paris 4-1 L-E, PG 3-2 Atl 1-4 Pitt 0-5 Girls scores: Paris 62, L-E 36 PG 52, NL 37 Pitt 38, Atl 18 Girls standings: PG 7-0 Paris 6-1 Pitt 4-3 Atl 2-5 NL, L-E 1-6 Synopsis: Paris girls still have one obstacle left (Pitt at home next Friday) before final showdown on Feb. 4 at PG. On boys' side, PG just climbed back into the race with win over NL. Paris' blowout over L-E was a bit of a shocker. With Hall missing, the Leopards are soft in the middle and it doesn't look like Donelson will recover in time to help. If they lose Tuesday at PG, they go 2 games down with 4 to play. Then they face NL next Friday at home, and NL is also not a good matchup inside for them. Paris shot a ridiculous 60% from the field tonight and pounded L-E on the boards. Key games left for the boys: Jan. 28: L-E @ PG Jan. 31: NL @ L-E Feb. 4: Paris @ PG Feb. 7: NL @ Paris Feb. 11: Paris @ L-E; PG @ NL

futfan
Lady Hawks looked really good Friday. Feb 4 will be another great game at Hawk Gym. I think Crandall is 2nd. There's a pretty big dropoff after those two. Of course, bi-district pairings will have District 13 vs. 14 (1 v 4, 2 v 3, 3 v 2, 4 v 1). Athens is in 15-3A: Athens 5-0 Brownsboro 4-1 Canton 3-2 Van 2-3 Mabank 1-4 Mineola 0-5 As best I can tell, among 15-3A girls, Brownsboro leads with Canton 2nd and Mineola 3rd. Brownsboro plays at Canton Friday.
