LoboFan07 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Plenty of recognition inside the den..but I understand what you're saying. Only thing I'd wish for is maybe expansion. Other than that..no complaints from me. Best facilities in ET. Oh I know. A ton of teams are recognized in there, as they should be. Reaching a final is just a huge thing to me. Expansion is an interesting topic though. If we were to stay in East Texas and the crowds come out like I think they will, I wouldn't be against it.

The visitor's side of our stadium needs new restrooms, concession stand, and a larger dressing room. I would also like to see a new, reasonably priced high school, and improved parking at the stadium, along with a video screen, and a much larger version of the "football history" sign (which you can't even read unless you're standing within 30ft).

Don't get me wrong, I think Lobo is one of the best stadiums around, but there is absolutely no leg room on the homeside. They need to go ahead and add stands to the grassy south end, and make that band/soccer practice field a parking lot for the visitor's side. It also wouldn't hurt to have the concessions and restrooms to where you don't have to hike up and down that dang hill everytime you get a hankering.

Tired of parking in peoples yards

I say expansion only because it'd be cool to see ALL Lobo fans on one side for once. Don't you just love the playoff atmosphere when we're all sitting together? Very different compared to games at Lobo.

blitzem Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Unless you have that sport that doesn't get to practice in the indoor until 7 or 8 pm because of other sports and other towns sports. Why are other towns sports using your indoor? Only timen I've heard of this is during football playoffs...and basketball would be the only other sport going on...just curious.
Eagleborn Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Why are other towns sports using your indoor? Only timen I've heard of this is during football playoffs...and basketball would be the only other sport going on...just curious. I dunno why. I never asked.
EnjoyLife Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 +1 Oct 18 , 1940 Vs Mexia to be exact. $45,000 to build set 1,800 folks . This town probably will never get a new statium. Yeah...its a darn shame but I doubt we will ever see a new stadium here. New bathrooms and expanding the visitors side would at least make the current stadium a little more user friendly. We used to host an occasional lower level playoff game. Watched Groveton (with Rodney Thomas) play Hughes Springs in a playoff game there. Now there are too many better options even for the smallest schools. Btw, who won that 1940 game with Mexia?
CarthDawg77 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 a lot of old money that folks couldn't care less about the kids and esp sports. Sad really... Sounds more like Henderson really belongs in The District of Gloom!
blackflag79 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Dream on!!! Lol!!! Yep, he is dreaming! Those first 3 items listed are just a pipe dream! We need Carthrage and Tatum to just send us money! The last two will are gonna take care of itself! Lol!

Not only that, but the "Creative student counting" kept y'all in Div II... So you won't lose the SC to us or Kilgore...
thegreatbambino Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 It would be nice to have turf in Winnsboro but will never get it.Unfortunately winnsboro wont get anything new for their athletes anytime soon.

Not only that, but the "Creative student counting" kept y'all in Div II... So you won't lose the SC to us or Kilgore... Carthrage and Tadumb both have an abundance of tax base from mines and gas wells. The gas wells around the Gilmer area have petered out pretty much. The "Creative student counting" accusation is stupid. Why would we want to leave all the extra revenue on the table from big gates just to go play some subpar teams further away? What was the UIL was thinking when they did the cut, or when they put us in a district where we have to travel so much. Who knows? It IS the UIL..., which is not known for using common sense. As for losing the "SC" to Carthrage and Kilgore, I don't remember us losing any SC to either team. Carthrage knocked us out in '08, but that was the only time they ever had anything to do with us not winning state. I'm certainly glad we get to at least play Carthrage this year. To tell you the truth, the vast majority of Buckeye fans are going to miss playing in the D of D. There was GOTW material every week in that district. We lost 2 district games in the 4 years we were in it, going 1-1 against both Carthrage and Kilgo.
BigRedFan Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Unfortunately winnsboro wont get anything new for their athletes anytime soon.I know. Winnsboro is drying up tax wise. Fans are getting a new concession stand and restrooms which they have needed for years.

gtee2 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Lv has the best press box in the pines, definitely not the best facilities though.. who do you think has the best?
Mavchamp Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Best Stadium in East Texas right now is Pine Tree. It's just small for what it is. But it's first class all the way. The traffic/parking is it's downfall. Best Basketball gym goes to Hallsville. Then Tatum. Then Longview. Best Baseball facility goes to Tyler. But it's not ISD owned I don't think. After that it's either Lufkin or Texas High. Can't say Kilgore cause it's not ISD owned either. Best Softball facility goes to Marshall. Best tennis facility goes to Longview. Best pool.... Texas High, based on word of mouth. Never seen it. But I've been in Longview's. Best Soccer.... probably Lufkin. They are one of the few that actually has a soccer facility in place instead of the football stadium.
blitzem Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I agree with pretty much all those mavchamp. Sulphur Springs has the best indoor around if you're counting that.
Pack007 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 who do you think has the best? I haven't seen all of them, but I think Tatum and Lufkin have a few facilities that are better than Lv, such as the indoor facilities, Coliseums and also baseball facilities. Again, Lv has the better press box and probably locker rooms. The PT stadium looks better than the rest, but it's small in capacity.
