Valhalla
All I can find is that Peterson used a switch on his 11 year old son. No other details yet.

partsman66
I'd wait till all the facts were in. Back in the day surprised no one called in on me. I wasn't afraid to discipline my kids wherever they needed it.

Valhalla
http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/09/12/adrian-peterson-indicted-for-child-abuse/ Looks like it was his 4 year old son.
RETIREDFAN1
IF all he did was use a switch on the kid, and that's what just scrolled across the screen on ESPNU, then these charges are total BS and the voters of Montgomery County need to elect a new, less pinko liberal DA......MORE parents need to be using switches instead of giving their kids whatever they want..... spacegolfer
Never knew it was illegal to use a switch. If so then how do schools get by using boards?
THSfanatic
Of course it all depends on the details. I know my mother could stripe my legs with a switch & my dad could sling his belt like a bullwhip. It wasn't child abuse. It was called discipline. And I deserved more than I got. DaveTV1
America is getting to the point that you can't even discipline your child. As stated above, if these laws were enforced when we were growing up, they wouldn't have had enough orphanages to house us all. I had marks from belt whippings sometimes, but I never felt it was abuse. I deserved all of my whippings. Unless Adrian broke the skin, then I would say this is going too far. There is not enough information for me to convict or exonerate yet. Right now, I'm in Adrian's corner, but that could change.
Lobo97
Personally, I believe in spanking, I was spanked as a child, I spank my kids. However, if you've seen the pics of his 4 year old, whipping a 4 year old to the point of bleeding is beyond crossing the line in my opinion. THSfanatic
I haven't seen the pics. If that is true I am in 100% agreement.
DLine06
Here's the problem.... The link I read that showed the charges includes details of wounds that stem from the switch. The marks left according to the evidence are on the Childs buttocks, back, on his arms from defensive wounds, the legs and most important to note, the child's scrotum. I believe in discipline guys but that mark on the child's scrotum is going to get him. Hate to pull it but, what DA would take this case other than to make a name for himself. Baron
I heard that the child was taken to a pediatrician in Minnesota who noted cuts across the child's buttocks and groin. A second doctor concurred with that assessment. I am 100% in favor of corporal punishment but causing cuts/bleeding is beyond the pale.
DLine06
Well if y'all read the link I posted on page 1 of the thread, it tells you all of the cuts and wounds. It's a shame that Adrian lost a child due to the mother's boyfriend last year and then be hit by this.
Coach Rab
I think it is a part of Jerry's grand scheme. AP is trying to get released so Jerry can sign him like he promised this summer.
CarthDawg77
Doug Gottlieb via Twitter reporting cps involved over Peterson beating the boy with a switch. My grandma would be on death row if she were still alive.... Lmao 😜So would my Dad, God rest his soul, but He never used a switch, he used a thick leather belt & a Strong Right hand... I still had bruises a WEEK later, but guess WHAT? It kept me OUT of a WHOLE lotta trouble, just knowing what would happen if I DID something I had no business doing! That's EXACTLY what's WRONG with the world today; kids don't get the discipline they NEED, & when they DO, THIS is what you get. ARRESTED! I hope they drop the charges. KirtFalcon
My grandma would be on death row if she were still alive.... Lmao +1  .... My granny had a bush out back with long slim branches, she would strip the leaves off and have several of them ready like a Samurai warrior ... just in case
