Paris vs. Sanger - Area Round

Alvarado coach last week was scouting L-E and left stadium impressed. He wasn't looking forward to facing L-E. Ranchview beats Alvarado by 10, so it seems to me that L-E and Ranchview should be a pretty close game. One report says Ranchview is overall faster with nine college prospects, but they don't play consistent team ball and end up making a lot of mistakes, particularly on defense. L-E must cut down on penalties, force some turnovers and score after those turnovers. I'll pick L-E to win this game 40-38. Since this is a Paris thread I'll take Parie to win 31 over Sanger's 21.

Paris has gone to control style offense and mix in the pass. It's been a beautiful piece of work for the Wildcats.

Is there anyone who believes Sanger is better than Van? Because that still wasn't the Paris Wildcats best game. I think Paris comes out on top by two TDs

I don't think this is the slam dunk that people seem to think it is. Paris was a +5 in turnovers vs. Van and needed every one of them to win. Yes, Sanger is banged up and starting a 14-year old at QB and sophomore RB, but Indians have the type of power running attack that can give the Cats fits. Sanger has a big defensive line that might be able to hang with Paris and slow down Quez Allen. Overall, I like the matchup, and I can see Paris making a run to the regional finals, but turnovers play a big role in the playoffs and if Sanger can catch a few breaks, especially early, it could be a scary night. This is same team (Paris) that put itself in position of needing to beat a winless Quinlan Ford to make the playoffs.

It's been a long time since Paris has made a run. They always seem to be better than who they are playing and come up short. Last week, they finally won a big game. They needed 6 turnovers, but they were able to cause those takeaways as coach Hohenberger likes to say. It is set up for Paris to enjoy this for a few more weeks if they will just show up and take care of the ball. They have the rushing attack and defense. The combination that it takes to win.

I had a coach in high school that used to coach at Mt. Pleasant when they played Paris in District. We always got on the subject of football and he told me once that when they would come in after pre game, the MP coaches would just wonder how in the world are we going to beat these athletes? Bad play calling and mistakes would end up dooming those Paris teams.

Hopefully Paris can get over this hump and really re-lay the foundation of this once great program.
