Mavchamp
All the scrimmages are done (I think). Most teams open the regular season this week. Tourneys in full swing. Predictions for softball and baseball district titles? Playoff contenders? Darkhorses? Who will be up? Who will be down? and.....GO.

Mavchamp
This is going to be a crazy competitive district in baseball. Hallsville will be top 10. Texas High won't be far behind. Both have dominated the last 5+ years. MP and Marshall both have rich baseball histories..... and always seem to spoil someone's fun. Longview has strung together some success the last few years..... intersting to see how they do with the new neighbors. Pine Tree seems to be a district favorite one season and in the cellar the next. Which will it be in 2015? Can Greenville avoid the cellar in any sport? My Predictions: Hallsville Texas High MP Marshall or Longview Pine Tree SS Greenville Softball: Hallsville Sulphur Springs Texas High Marshall Pine Tree MP Greenville Longview
THSfanatic
Not sure Texas High has any proven pitchers to have them rated 2nd in district. It's early though

Cletus
Of the teams that were in a District together last year, most of them graduated their ace. I know T-High, Mount Pleasant, Pine Tree and Marshall did. Sulphur Springs had a pretty good Sophomore last year and of course Hallsville has Weaver back. I don't know a thing about Longview this year and I would not expect Greenville to be good, but that is based more on what they have in other sports. I can't put them in an order without guessing beyond Hallsville. We all know Hallsville will be really good and beyond that I think it will be a very interesting race to see who gets the 2-4 slots. I know Mount Pleasant does not have a Senior on their squad that has Varsity experience. Couple of Juniors and Sophomores that could be really good before it is all said and done. As always, it will be fun!

Aggie98
We scrimmaged Longview and PT last week.... Longview is pretty good. Not Hallsville good, but probably top 3 in the district good. Strong lineup, above average defense.... Good pitching staff. Saw Armstrong, Castleberry, Ross, Chumley and a couple of others I don't know throw. Chumley has some pop in his bat and can fly around the bases. There were a couple of pro scouts there watching him. Pine Tree was pretty average offensively and defensively, but they had 7 or 8 what I would call quality pitchers. I don't know any of their names, but the best one was a big, long haired lefty with a pretty good fastball and great offspeed stuff. Mason Hays leads off and plays CF for them. He good. GoLobos
Lobos blew a 5-1 lead in the 7th and lost 6-5 to Dripping Springs. Wild pitches and passed balls were costly in the final frame.
Mavchamp
Marshall improved to (2-0) with a 9-4 win over Tatum tonight. The Mavs will host their own tourney starting on Thursday and will run through Saturday. Not sure who all will be at the Marshall tourney..... the confirmed teams I know are Marshall, Sherman, Pleasant Grove, Liberty Eylau, Bullard. But I think there another 2-3 teams participating. Next week is the Hallsville tourney, which has a monster field lined up.

Mavchamp
Marshall beat Pleasant Grove today 3-2. I think that makes them 4-0 on the season. Maybe 4-1. Not sure. Will find out.

Mavchamp
Lady Mavs lost to MP tonight in district opener 11-4. Ouch. Any other scores? The Hallville/Marshall baseball tourney starts Thurs...... all games will be either at Bobcat Field (Hallsville) or Maverick Field (Marshall). Congrats to HHS and MHS for pulling together one of the best line-ups I've seen so far this season. Lots of great baseball this week. Mavchamp
Usually getting softball scores gets easier with district play..... no so today! Mt. Pleasant beat Marshall 11.-4 Sulphur Springs beat Longview (score pending) Game was played in MP because of a flooded field in SS Hallsville and Pine Tree will play today No news on Texarkana and Greenville
Mavchamp
SS beat Longview 13-8 Hallsville beat Pine Tree 15-0 MP beat Marshall 11-4 Still no report on Texas High/Greenville
RandyJohnson
Since Mavchamp has not updated the Reich Builders Tournament status herein it's been totally washed out (as in canceled)...which should come as no surprise. So District play will begin next week on Tuesday. R. J.
Mavchamp
Apparently there are some games going on today in Hallsville and in Marshall between most of the teams that were suppose to be in the tourney. But I don't know who and where. Just trying to get some reps in before district I suppose. Hasn't been much of a predistrict warm up for anyone this year because of Mother Nature. The Lady Mav softball game for last night Vs. SS was moved to Monday at
Mavchamp
Marshall improved to 7-1 on the season tonight. They beat Gilmer 10-0 then followed it up with a 3-0 win over Henderson. District play starts Tuesday.
