Coach Rab
We aren't going to be good at all. Thoughts?
cats69
Considering the whole Deandre Jordan fallout, i was actually impressed with some of the signings they were able to piece together after...may be able to clinch 7/8 spot in the west. topher805
At the Rockets/Mavs game right now. They aren't too bad but not on the Rockets level offensively or defensively

Valhalla
Best case scenario Dallas can make a run at the 8 seed.
Coach Rab
Best case scenario Dallas can make a run at the 8 seed. It would almost be a waste.
topher805
Right now the Dallas Mavericks are average, and in the NBA, that is the last thing you want to be...
Valhalla
It would almost be a waste. The Celtics have their 1st round pick this year. It's top 7 protected though.
Coach Rab
I would prefer the Mavs to finish bottom 5... but Cuban won't allow them to tank, or I think he won't...
Baron
The Celtics have their 1st round pick this year. It's top 7 protected though. It's going to be bad this year, but not bad enough to keep their draft pick.
Coach Rab
It's going to be bad this year, but not bad enough to keep their draft pick. I agree... Dirk should fake an injury and tank half the season. The Celtics have their 1st round pick this year. It's top 7 protected though. I just remembered... this is from the Rondo deal wasn't it? worst deal in the history of Mark Cuban decision making
BillSimmons
^ Im still ok with that trade. Hindsight is 20/20 but man thats just part of having Cuban as an owner, he swings for the fence every time. Parsons signs with the Lakers next offseason, Dirk retires, and the guy formerly known as Deron Williams does zero to impress.

That team Dallas had before the trade was not going to do any better than that roster did.

Coach Rab
Opening night today... then we have to sit through a season like the baseball season where after about 30 too many games we still don't have a clear signal of who should be in the playoffs and who shouldn't. I wonder if basketball could profit more if they had less game but staggered it where there was a game every night of the week then backload Saturday and Sundays on the major TV networks... Just a thought... I wonder if it would generate more buzz with less games meaning that each one means a little bit more like football...
BillSimmons
On track for 82-0. Go Mavs.
cats69
I know it was 1 game but man it was sweet for them to put that whooping on LA last night. The Dirk of old was present. 31 points 11 rebounds.
BillSimmons
I'm really hoping DeAndre is another FA bust the Mavs got lucky to miss out on.
Coach Rab
Too many good players for him to even reach his potential in LA. In Dallas he would have been featured and treated like a King.
Valhalla
Too many good players for him to even reach his potential in LA. In Dallas he would have been featured and treated like a King. It came down to whether he wanted to be the 3rd guy on a title contender or the top guy on a 7-8 seed team.

You know the Mavs can build around a feature piece... I don't think Jordan has confidence in himself to be "the guy". So the Mavs should be happy he changed his mind. You need a confident killer that thinks they can win 1 on 5. Kobe is a shell of himself and still thinks he can do it...
BillSimmons
The Mavs are officially the second best team that is not Golden State in the West. Go Mavs.
topher805
I know you Mav fans can sympathize, but the Kardashian Kurse is real. She had her claws in Lamar Oden when he was in Dallas, and now she is killing James Hardin's career
