Lobo97
That's true, but only one team was down to their 4th string QB who hadn't played the position since his junior year of high school! That's true, but only one of these teams hasn't had a QB since 2009. Also missing many other key players at key positions. And still found a way to win. Your WR playing QB was still a better option under center than Swoopes. So I do have a point.
cats69
So are you saying QB's should never run the ball? Nope. What I'm saying is whenever your Qb is questionable all week as he was against OK St., yet he is well enough to play, you protect him by being smart in play calling and not putting him in a bad position. They didn't need their qb running ability to chunk the ball all over the field like they usually do. Then after that when you're now having to start a 3rd stringer and you know your only backup is a guy who was playing receiver the week before, you might be a little mindful of that and again not put yourself in a situation in which that happens. Simple as that.

cats69
Also did not understand Baylor's early use of gimmick plays. I didn't watch much of it, (finals week), especially after the QB was knocked out...but were these happening before he got knocked out or after? If after i'm sure it was based off the fact that their offense was a shell of itself with Johnson knocked out and they needed to try and gain an advantage some way or another. I did see at that point, Texas was able to just load the box and dare Baylor to throw.

Simple as that. Since Russell went down their offense has not been the same. I don't care how good Stidham is going to be he was not consistent. Of course he was a better option than Johnson or Hawthorne, who had to run to make plays because when they were chucking it down the field as you put it, they completed the passes just to the wrong team. If Russell hadn't been injured would the Bears have won some of the games they lost? Maybe, maybe not. I think with Russell they beat TCU and Texas, but unfortunately it is what it is. Injuries are part of the game and how you handle them determines how good you are as a team. As far as a coach not putting a QB in as situation to get hurt. How many of those plays that the QB kept the ball were actually meant for the QB to run? I doubt very many if any. Inexperience doesn't help in a QB making a smart decision on what to do when their receivers are covered. Bottom line is the only way to keep your QB out of the situation that he could get hurt is to sit him on the bench. In my opinion the Bears ability to win the Big 12 and make the playoff was over when Russell went down. When you go from scoring 50+ points a game to 30 and under with a defense like Baylor's you won't win many games.

Though not necessarily a gimmick play they had the 380+ TE line up in the backfield where they handed the ball off to him for a short gain. JustAFan11
Which Texas coaches are under contract for 2016 besides Traylor They are all under contract for at least one more year I believe. Strong signed a 5 year deal and the assistants signed 3 year deals. If that is correct every coach is under contract for 1 more year with the exception of Strong, Traylor, Norvell, and Haley which all have 2 left. Kinda like you Aggies keep telling yourselves that being in the sec makes you better than u actually are. Does that make u a pathological liar? what's funny is you believe it lion!!! I guess when you look at it that way, Texas was really competitive but got a lot of bad breaks. There were a few games where the wheels just fell off, but that happens to everyone. DB2point0
Never heard so much smack talk from a team that won 5 games LOL! I guess could've scheduled western Carolina, ball state or Nevada instead of California or Notre dame?! That was 3 guaranteed wins ooc with a decent opponent in Arizona st (which I congratulated u on the win). Then the sec giving you two of the worst teams in the sec east. The sec west was pretty down this year as well and you still lost 4 games. The difference in Texas fans and aggie fans here is we don't have our head in the sand, we know we're not any good. The Fighting SEC Aggies, where being a part makes you better!!! And yes, Texas stinks. We know

There were a few games where the wheels just fell off, but that happens to everyone. Texas crapped the bed 3 times this year. They weren't competitive in any of those 3. They were competitive, however, against Tech, California, and ok state. Either of those 3 could've ended differently. But they didn't. 7-5 or 8-4 was expected but they underachieved big time
