DaveTV1
He's only played in one game. In my opinion that shouldn't disqualify Katy, because he was already going to another Katy High School. Had he been a star player, and played in more than one game, then maybe.

upullinmychain
Coaches know the rules and live or die by them.. They've been accused of this before if I'm not mistaken, and it may have finally caught up with them.. Usually if there is any uncertainty about a players eligibility there are people that you can contact for the rulings.. To get blindsided in week 13-14 would be a nightmare.... Can't see a winning program getting caught unaware of any player on the rosters eligibility..
SteelJacket
Yeah, not like they had a player the whole season and had to forfeit all 10 games.
LSUTIGERS
Yeah, not like they had a player the whole season and had to forfeit all 10 games. November 27th was last weeks playoff game, so it would be the whole season!

BillyClydePuckett
Why would you even play someone like that for ONE STINKING play? I could almost understand it if the kid was a stud and could really play. But you are going to risk your season over one play? And yes they SHOULD be disqualified. One play / one game / every play / every play, the rules are unambiguous. That is a NO NO .

One play / one game / every play / every play, the rules are unambiguous. That is a NO NO . Agreed. The rules have to apply, without regard to how much a kid participated. If he was ineligible, it doesn't matter if he made one play or 90.
TD89
I wonder how this came about and who really believes the UIL is gonna disqualify Katy lol
deeproot
If it was Wilmer Hutchins, La Marque, Yates, or Carter we know how this would play out. If it was a small rural school we know how those rules apply. One play, a whole game, an entire season, the rules are the rules unless you have money. We all know how much money and size matter with women, lets see how much it matters to the UIL.
WildcatScream
Well the part about the reason will save them, apparently it was not to get more playing time so it must of been some other circumstance
coachjo
Yes, UIL doesn't care that this involves Katy, and they had a situation in 1998 where they had to forfeit their playoff win. Also, yes it doesn't matter if the player is not a "star" player or not. Â With that said, the facts will be presented. Slickarick
This is crazy that they let this happen. They are probably top 5 in the country right now. Some coach messed up here letting him even suit up. That being said think about the state championship games. If you have player failing star or not and play on Thursday he cant play but if the team plays on Friday or Saturday they can play because the holiday is longer than 5 days. Crazy. supermaroon
Punish the coaches for letting him play but don't punish the whole team for something stupid the coaches did. Idk if you fine the coaches or what to do but the kids don't deserve to have their year ruined for something they had no control over.

coachjo
Katy not ruled ineligible. They will play this week. Student was ruled ineligible, but the ruling was based on if the school could prove sufficient diligence in this situation, which they did. This is the reason for probation compared to getting the forfeit ruling.
Pack007
This is the reason for probation compared to getting the forfeit ruling. Katy is the reason. Don't think for one second JT would've recieved the same punishment. Lv didn't years ago.
Slickarick
Just wondering, it says he waiting the 15 days since the move of the parents and child. But what is the difference in terms of the postseason?
coachjo
Katy is the reason. Don't think for one second JT would've recieved the same punishment. Lv didn't years ago. Katy had a forfeit in 98 right before their Championship game vs Midland Lee, so saying it's because they are Katy is a flawed argument.
