Boys standings:

  • Paris 6-0
  • PG 5-1
  • NL 3-3
  • Pitt 2-4
  • L-E & Atlanta 1-5

Girls standings:

  • L-E 7-1
  • PG 6-2,
  • Atlanta & NL 5-3
  • Pitt 1-7
  • Paris 0-8

Friday's games: Atlanta @ PG, Pitt @ L-E, NL @ Paris (boys play Saturday 5 pm)

Comments: L-E girls need one more win to clinch first. Paris boys can wrap up the district title in the next week with a win Saturday vs. NL and next Tuesday vs. PG. Watch out for L-E. They've gained some heft underneath to go with their outside shooting and overall team speed. They're capable of making a playoff run. Depending on matchups, you could see a couple of all-District 15-4A regional quarterfinals.

Boys update: Paris survived an overtime scare vs. North Lamar Saturday. Versache Buchanan hit 7-3's in the game but missed a rushed attempt with time running out in regulation. Paris exploded in the OT to outscore NL 17-5. Should be an interesting finish for playoff seeding. PG has a tough week ahead with back-to-back trips to Paris to face NL on Tuesday and Paris on Friday. NL at L-E Friday should also be interesting.

Tuesday's girls scores:

  • Liberty-Eylau 43, Atlanta 38
  • North Lamar 61, Pleasant Grove 52
  • Pittsburg 66, Paris 63 (OT)

Boys scores:

  • North Lamar 63, Pleasant Grove 51
  • Paris 78, Pittsburg 35
  • Liberty-Eylau 81, Atlanta 36

Final girls standings: 1. L-E 9-1; 2. (tie) NL & PG 7-3; 4. Atlanta 5-5; 5. Pitt 2-8; 6. Paris 0-10

Boys standings: Paris 8-0, PG 6-2, NL 4-4, L-E 3-5, Pitt 2-6, Atlanta 1-7

Girls update: NL & PG flipped for playoff seeding. PG will be No. 2 and NL No. 3. Paris will carry 17-game winless streak into next season but could be one of the better teams in district next year (which is an indication how weak this district is).

Boys update: PG plays at Paris Friday, while NL is at L-E. District ends on Tuesday with L-E at PG.

Paris girls went 0-10......but could win the district next season. They were just very very young with a first year coach and their best perimeter player was out nearly all season. Could make an LE-esque type turnaround. Should be interesting. As Parisian said, a relatively soft district helps, too.

Still a week to go (plus potential play-in games), but here's a reasonable playoff projection for the two East Texas quarterfinal brackets based on current standings:

Top Bracket:

  • Gladewater vs. Liberty-Eylau
  • Mabank vs. Van or Canton
  • Paris vs. Spring Hill
  • Van or Canton vs. Crandall

Bottom Bracket:

  • Brownsboro vs. Ferris or Kaufman
  • Pleasant Grove vs. Gilmer
  • Athens vs. Wills Point
  • Chapel Hill vs. North Lamar

The two quarterfinal bracket survivors would then face a couple of salty teams from the DFW region including the Dallas schools (Lincoln, Madison, Wilmer Hutchins, Carter), Triple A, and Argyle in the regional semis. BTW, Paris has a 9-0 record this season against the above-listed East Texas teams (Districts 13-16) by an average margin of 27.3 points.

Boys Scores Friday:

  • Paris 60, Pleasant Grove 41
  • North Lamar 68, Liberty-Eylau 55
  • Pittsburg 71, Atlanta 33

Paris (9-0) wraps up the district title with a game remaining. PG (6-3) needs a win Tuesday vs. L-E (3-6) to take the No. 2 seed over NL (5-4). We could see a play-in game between L-E and Pittsburg for No. 4.

Bi-District Matches:

  • Paris will play Spring Hill
  • No. 4 seed (either L-E or Pitt) will play Gladewater
  • Nos. 2-3 (PG, NL) will play Chapel Hill, Gilmer, TBD

I'm just a non-partial observer who listened to the radio broadcast the second half. It indeed sounded like some very inconsistent officiating, but I agree with LE92. PG blew a 10-point lead because the Hawks couldn't hit their free throws in crunch time. Weird things can and do happen in rivalry games.

Anyway, best of luck to the four 15-4A reps. Really think there's a good chance we could see a couple of all-District 15 regional quarterfinals.

Blame it on the Refs not thier fault they blew a 10 point lead in 3 mins

didnt blame the refs...simply said I can not believe that ref made that call after the previous 7.8 secs of non calls...

totally agree pg blew the lead...I know where the game was lost...and that occurred starting around four minute mark...
