Sources have confirmed Woodville AD/Football Coach Mike Waldie has been offered and accepted the job as AD/Football Coach at Daingerfield.

Waldie will be recommended at a school board meeting at noon on Friday, and "based on school board approval," he'll replace Aric Sardinea, who left for Alief Elsik.

Sardinea was 38-28 at Daingerfield, including a state championship game appearance in 2012.

Waldie was 13-8 in 2-years as head coach at Woodville, including 7-4 in 2015, their first seven-win season since 1996. Waldie has also been AD/head coach at Luling where he was 8-12, and was a defensive coordinator at Jacksonville, Livingston, Mount Pleasant and Nacogdoches.

He's a graduate of Euless-Trinity High School and Sam Houston State University.

But sometimes in life you have to make those sacrifices. Daingerfield will never be up if the ones on the board at afraid to take chances. Need someone with some guts to stand up and say enough is enough. We've lost out on many good coaches because of being afraid to do this or do that. It's time to make a stand. Kids are moving away from here to go to other schools because of the super and board are afraid of taking chances. In order to make money, you have to spend money. You get what you pay for. You can't go and buy a pinto and expect it to have the performance as a Benz, Lexus, Bentley, etc... Of course it might get you from A to B, but will it be Able to hold up in the crunch. Oh and the answer to the question about the other coach that's protesting, yes he's from the old staff and yes he needs to go too!

So do all you Economist on Smoaks Think $80,000 is chump change for a 3a East Texas school -A D...............yep I didn't think so.

You're right. $80 , 00 is not chump Change, but it's also the difference from getting a Nick Saban to getting a Joe Kuharich. He might be a good coach in his own perspective, but he's no coach Saban or any of the elite coaches.

So is Football the only sport that is played in Daingerfield?

Let's take a look at the Girls Programs in Daingerfield. How competitive have these programs been over the last 10 years and why not? So when the select few football coaches are asked to resign or get non renewed , will the female coaches be let go also? A Head Football Coach/ Athletic Director is responsible for all Athletic programs and needs to put well qualified teachers/ coaches in position to be successful in the classroom and on the field/court/track.

Basketball ?

Volleyball ?

Softball ?

Tennis ?

Track and Field?

Nick Saban generates MILLIONS for any school.... A High School Football Coach does not. There are very few, if any, high school football programs that MAKE money. People that think they make money are a part of the problem with the hiring process for Head Football jobs today.
