BlackBeard Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Nick Anderson with a 2 hitter Philip Sissons with a 1 hitter. The only run scored was a walk and throwing error. A very good pitchers duel. I heard the 3 way tie has to be settled by Wednesday of next week so with the rain potentially interfering with the weekend I can see the UIL forcing a coin toss.
DKBearFan Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Prairiland vs. DeKalb tonight at 5 p.m. at DeKalb in game 1 of tie breaker. Winner faces New Boston in game 2 thirty minutes following game 1. If NB wins game 2, they are 3rd seed and winner of game 1 is 4th seed. If NB loses game 2, winner of games 1 and 2 is 3rd seed and NB faces loser of game 1 at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at DeKalb to determine the 4th seed.
BlackBeard Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 So if NB wins its a single elimination bracket but if NB loses it is a double elimination bracket?
DKBearFan Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 You'll have to talk to the coaches and AD's about that. I think they are just trying to eliminate one team from making the playoffs via coin flip while the other two are forced to play their way in, which I totally agree with (probably because my team didn't get the bye).
BlackBeard Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Personally I would have been fine with all three coaches getting into an octagon and the first one down, his team is eliminated. But it sounds like a double elimination bracket which means a team could essentially play 4 games in 2 days which would be crazy.
DKBearFan Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I feel like 2 coaches might gang up on one in that case....LOL. But who knows? No team will have to play more than 2 games in this tie-breaker. DeKalb is the only team that has a chance to have to play 3 games in 2 days. All 3 teams could have to play 3 games in 3 days.
Hookem73 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 It just makes a team win a game to get in. Better than the loser of 1st game being out and the team with a bye gets beat also. Look pretty fair
BlackBeard Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I went back 2 years in the forum and saw this post where Hooks, QC and NB were in a 3 game tie breaker and coincidentally NB got the bye. First game - QC/Hooks plays first game. Second game - QC/Hooks winner vs NB. Winner of that game gets 3rd seed.. Third game - QC/Hooks loser plays loser of second game. - Winner gets 4th seed.
DKBearFan Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Makes no sense that if NB wins the 2nd game that the same two teams that played the first game turn around and play again. It is my understanding, the only way there is a 3rd game in this tie-breaker is if NB loses game 2.
BlackBeard Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 None of this makes a lot of sense but that is how it was settled 2 years ago. Hooks/QC played twice.
Hookem73 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 So if winner of game 1 loses against NB your saying DK & PL would play again even though one of them beat the other the first game. The way I read DKBear post was that the only way the loser of game one had a chance to play again is if NB lost. If NB wins their 3rd place and winner of 1 st game is fourth. I have no clue just asking

DKBearFan Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 According to what our AD told me earlier, that bracket is wrong. But, I don't know that for sure. I asked him to explain the possible game 3 and he told me that if New Boston lost Game 2, they would have to play the loser of game 1 at 6:00 on Thursday to determine the 4th seed. I then asked him if there would be a game 3 if NB won game 2, and he said no. NB would be the 3 seed and the winner of game 1 would be the 4 seed. But again, I am just relaying what I was told by Coach May who was at the meeting.

BlackBeard Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 If you look again at the bracket in post #189 that is exactly how the Dekalb coach explained it. Where am I misunderstanding this?
DKBearFan Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 That bracket just looks like there is definitely a game 3 on Thursday. But there is only a game 3 of NB loses game 2. If NB wins game 2, there is no game 3.
Horns85 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 If you look again at the bracket in post #189 that is exactly how the Dekalb coach explained it. Where am I misunderstanding this? Bracket is a little misleading. Because if NB wins shouldn't be a game on Thursday like DKfan stated
