final tonight: North Lamar 8, Pleasant Grove 5. Hawks ran through 5-6 pitchers tonight, while Panthers' Gibbons had a complete game.

NL needs a win Tuesday at Pitt and a PG loss at L-E to tie for first, otherwise, Panthers will finish 2nd.

Heck of a game at LE last night, PG pulled it out in the final inning for the win.

LE and Pitt trying to get a game approved for Thursday from what I hear.

LE has not been in the playoffs since 2011, they also got into the playoffs that year through a play-in

game after them and north lamar tied for 3rd in district with a .500 record. (back when only 3 teams from districts

made playoffs).

  • Pleasant Grove vs. Wills Point: Friday @ PG, Saturday @ Wills Point
  • North Lamar vs. Mabank: Friday at Sulphur Springs
  • Paris vs. Athens: Thursday at West Mesquite, Saturday at West Mesquite
  • Pittsburg vs. Canton: Thurs-Fri-Sat at Tyler Carter Field

Paris draws the toughest assignment, but if Phillip Sikes is on in Game 1, we might see another district sweep of these regional quarterfinal brackets, just like in basketball.

The Thursday game will definitely be key, especially if it's Sikes (8-1) vs. Boyd (8-0). Sikes' only loss was a 2-1 defeat at Athens in pre-district when defense played a big part in the outcome. Athens has an advantage in having played on turf before.
