Mavchamp
Game 5 MP beat Sulphur Springs 52-37 Marshall beat Hallsville 46-45 Texas High beat Greenville 89-57 PT- OFF Men's Standings Mount Pleasant (5-0, 17-6) Sulphur Springs (3-1, 18-5) Texas High (2-2, 12-6) Hallsville (2-2, 18-6) Marshall (2-3, 16-9) Pine Tree (1-3, 6-13) Greenville (0-4, 6-15) MP took sole possession of first place in the district with their huge road win at SS. Texas High picked up some real estate on SS with their win and the Wildcat's loss. Marshall is clawing their way back into the playoff race with their win over Hallsville Next Games: Texas High Vs. Hallsville Marshall Vs. Pine Tree SS Vs. Greenville MP- OFF Texas High and Hallsville have a huge game. The Tigers will be looking to remain firmly in the #3 slot with a win. A loss could throw the Tigers into a messy three way tie with the Bobcats and Marshall. A Hallsville loss could drop the Bobcats into 5th place behind the Mavericks in the standings. Marshall is hoping for a road win over PT coupled with a Texarkana win over Hallsville to put the Mavs in the thick of the playoff race as they would claim the #4 spot headed into their bye. SS should get back to their winning ways with a road trip to Greenville. First place MP will be idle. ------------------------------ Game 7 SS beat MP (score?) Hallsville beat Marshall 72-25 Texas High beat Greenville 66-43 Pine Tree- OFF Women's Standings Sulphur Springs (6-0, 20-3) Mount Pleasant (5-1, 17-9) Pine Tree (4-2, 14-10) Texas High (3-3, 11-11) Hallsville (2-4, 19-9) Greenville (1-5, 2-15) Marshall (0-6, 1-15) SS took sole possession of first place with their road win over MP. Honestly.... outside of SS and MP.... this district is pretty terrible in girls BB. But the race for the district title could be interesting as the 2nd half of district play gets underway. Marshall and Greenville are just appallingly bad.... not sure I've ever seen a less competitive Lady Mav team... and that's saying something because we've had some horrendous girls BB teams through the years... but this year us just SMDH bad. Wow. They only game on the docket for Tuesday that looks interesting is Hallsville/Texas High as both are are the brink of elimination of the playoff race. The rest of the games should be easy wins for the heavy favorites.

Mavchamp
Game 7 Mount Pleasant beat Greenville 73-34 Sulphur Springs beat Hallsville 61-53 Texas High beat Pine Tree 67-58 Marshall- OFF Men's Standings Mount Pleasant (6-0, 18-6) Sulphur Springs (5-1, 20-5) Hallsville (3-3, 19-7) Texas High (3-3, 13-7) Marshall (2-4, 16-10) Pine Tree (2-4, 7-14) Greenville (0-6, 6-17) The first round of district play wrapped up Friday night. MP remains all alone in first place with SS just one game behind. The rematch of the Wildcats and the Tigers looming soon for the likely district title. Hallsville and Texas High are knotted up for third place.... with Marshall and PT just one game out. Tuesday...... The Marshall-Texas High game is huge. A Tiger win will put Marshall behind the 8-ball getting into the playoffs. A Marshall win could throw things into a really messy tie situation with Texarkana and Hallsville. MP should make easy work of Hallsville to remain alone in first place, while SS should take care of PT to keep the Wildcats on MP's tail. ------------------------------ Game 9 Pine Tree beat Texas High 55-46 Sulphur Springs beat Hallsville 59-46 Mount Pleasant beat Greenville- 51-44 Marshall- OFF Women's Standings Sulphur Springs (8-0, 22-3) Mount Pleasant (6-1, 18-9) Pine Tree (6-2, 16-10) Texas High (4-4, 12-12) Hallsville (2-6, 19-11) Greenville (1-7, 2-17) Marshall (0-7, 1-16) Barring some monster upsets down the stretch..... it looks like the 4 playoff teams are solidified in the race. PT has really turned thing up and could make some noise.... and play a part in the district championship. BUT....MP and SS appear to the the favorites. Texas High has likely clinched the #4 spot as they have a 2 game lead over Hallsville. And as already stated..... Greenville and Marshall are just dreadful. Tuesday...... The PT/SS game is pretty big. The Lady Bucs have a chance to throw a monkey wrench into things if they can get the win over the Lady Cats, who have a paper-thin lead over MP for the district lead. MP should take care of business over Hallsville. Texas High will likely nail down the final playoff slot with a win over Marshall.

Mavchamp
Friday will likely determine the district championships for both the men and the ladies between MP and SS on both sides of the ball. Men: MP will take on Texas high.... a win will set up the monster battle with SS next week for the district championship. Hallsville Vs. Pine Tree- This is a big one for PT if they want a chance to jump back into the playoff race. Hallsville and Texas High each hold a slim lead over the Pirates for a postseason slot. A PT loss could all but eliminate them from the chase, while a Bobcat win would solidify their slot a little more. However.... a PT win could possibly set up a log-jam for the post season between them, Hallsville, and Texas High. Defending district champion Marshall's playoff hopes are on life support....but they aren't dead yet. They need to win out in their final 3 games to have any chance. It begins Friday with Greenville, whom they've already beaten. They will also need wins over Hallsville and Pine Tree. They beat Hallsville in the first game and lost to PT on the road. If they win out, they are in. One more loss and they are done. SS- Idle Ladies: Just like the men...... the district title will likely be decided next week between MP and SS. But first the Lady Tigers of MP must take care of business against Texas High. Pine Tree will face Hallsville- The Lady Bucs have already clinched a playoff spot, but the Lady Cats are in a must-win situation and need some assistance to have any hopes of squeezing into the playoffs..... a loss will end Hallsville's postseason dreams. PT is cemented into the #3 slot in the district. Marshall's girls likely will have their last chance of getting their first win in district play Friday Vs. Greenville.... who only has one win themselves....over Marshall. SS will have the night off....and will be awaiting the big game Vs. MP next week. SSCatz
SS at MP is actually Tuesday. Friday will likely determine the district championships for both the men and the ladies between MP and SS on both sides of the ball. Men: MP has a one game lead over SS for the district lead. A Tiger win will all but nail down the district championship for MP. However, a Wildcat win could force a possible third and tie-breaking game for the trophy. Should be a packed house in MP Friday as it could be for all the marbles barring a late-season upset for either. Texas High will be idle as they are in a tie with Hallsville for 3rd place. Ladies: Just like the men...... the district title will likely be decided Friday between MP and SS, only this time SS is the one in the cat0bird seat as the Lady Cats have a slight lead over the Lady Tigers. A SS win Friday will essentially clinch the district title for SS.... BUT... an MP win, like them men, could set up the possibility of a 3rd and tie-breaking game for the district trophy. Texas High is idle...but they will likely be scoreboard watching. A Hallsville win over PT will clinch the #4 slot for the Lady Tigers, but a PT win would mean at least one more win would be needed before clinching the spot for themselves.
