Gilmer Buckeyes vs Melissa Cardinals

Defense is hit and miss. Hard hitting but young and prone to giving up big plays from time to time. The defense has gotten better as the year has gone. Against Celina the defense ran out of gas because Celina's 300lb + oline was banging on them. Melissa is up and coming, im putting everybody on notice Melissa will be the next Argyle and next year you will see what im talking about.

Thanks for the response and info on your team. I have a feeling y`all are going to give up some big plays on Friday. Doubt Melissa has played an offense like Gilmer. We are prone to give up some plays also, so I think we will see some points scored by both teams.

Look forward to the game Friday.

I sure hope Gilmer players aren't reading this. This Gilmer team is ripe for an upset. Gilmer may be favored by 4 TDs on paper, but they consistently have played their way into close games. That trend will come back to bite them.

I honestly would bet my house on this game I'm sorry but even if Gilmer played horrible they still would win

I was thinking the same thing. That would be the reason i posted such ignorance. Im not saying Melissa is gonna win but Melissa is much better than these people are giving them credit for. Melissa should seriously be 9-2 if not 10-1. The only game Melissa got beat bad in was Celina. Qb being injured really screwed them up against Aubrey and it was 14 to 12 against Princeton before the wheels fell off in the 4th qt with 7 minutes left because of some young player mistakes. I dont think Melissa has peeked just yet this year. Will they this week who knows, but a lot of people dont respect Melissa.

I don't think that it's about not respecting Melissa as much as those in this area just knowing Gilmer. Gilmer, no matter how bad their fans think they play, finds a way to win and usually by a wide margin.

As far as the boys playing the game, I can promise you nothing said on this or any website would make them overconfident. They are confident, but it's because they know how to win and always, no matter how much time is left, believe they can win. It's not arrogance, just belief in themselves and their teammates.

Didn't Gilmer, a few years back, play someone in the first round that they were supposed to beat bad and the Buckeyes got beat? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but for some reason I think a game like that happened.

I believe Gilmer was probably ranked near or at the top in the state in their class that year (again). May have been the year the boy from Canton moved to Gilmer and regardless of the controversy, it was a legal move. I'm getting very old, so bear with my fading memory.

BTW, Gilmer should roll Melissa in my opinion. They are not as good as they were a few years back, but they are rebuilding fast.

Also, I don't want anyone counting chickens before they hatch, but when Gilmer wins, who do you think wins the game that will face them Thanksgiving week? Jasper or Aubrey?

2006 was Gilmer's last first round loss, so it's been a while. Lost to Liberty Eyleau, with LaMichael James at running back and Will Middlebrooks at Quarterback. LE went on to win state that year, so it really wasn't that big of an upset.

The closest to a major 1st round upset was actually last year, when Gilmer almost bowed out to Pleasant Grove in a game where they made a ton of mistakes.

I didn't see that many mistakes...I did see PG get after them and almost pull the upset. This year, PG had them beat until the last quarter but PG has proven to be a good, tough underestimated team. If they replay that game today, PG wins easily.

No I only gave advice to Traylor era.Snowbird are you still here in the USA?I saw you on the news crying after the election because Hillary didn't win.Your pathetic!Move to Canada!

Traylor was gone last year and you were crying like a socialist all season.

I am the most anti-Hillary person in America. I heard you tried to leave the country but needed 2 plane seats for yourself and only one was available.

Pick 6's killed us last year. We were -3 against PG in turnovers last year. Turnovers are another thing we have to minimize or eliminate this season if we want to keep advancing.

Melissa will likely score some points this go 'round. We should still score more than them. I guess that seems to be the MO for this season's team.
