Lee High School Varsity Gym 411 East Loop 323 TYLER- The Robert E. Lee High School athletics department will formally introduce Kristee Porter as the new head volleyball coach Monday morning. Robert E. Lee coaches and student volleyball athletes will be in attendance. Porter comes to Lee after two seasons as the head coach at Henderson State University. She led the Reddies to a 13-16 overall record (8-8 in conference play) where they earned their first-ever appearance in the Great American Conference Tournament and first postseason appearance since advancing to Gulf South Conference Tournament in 2010. Prior to Henderson State, Porter served as head coach at Navarro Junior College in Corsicana, assistant coach at the University of Colorado and was later named Director of Operations for Factory Athletics/Under Armour in Baltimore, MD. An accomplished volleyball player herself, Porter played internationally for Spain and Puerto Rico teams for eight years and was a member of the USA National Volleyball Team (Olympic Training Team) from 1998-2003. Porter holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she also was a three-sport athlete, three-time All-American in volleyball and two-time National Champion in triple and long jump. Porter also earned a master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University. A 1998 graduate of John Tyler High School, Porter is considered to be one of the most decorated athletes to come out of Tyler ISD. She is a member of the inaugural class (2013) of the Tyler ISD Athletic Hall of Fame. Welcome to Tyler ISD and Robert E. Lee High School, Coach Porter!
