I watched a Winona basketball game this year. Not much discipline. Parents screamed the whole game about how they were being cheated. Players fed into it and did the same. One parent/fan was escorted from the game. Coach was right there with the parents and kids complaining about the officials. I didn't see much coaching. I also saw why many coaches have come and gone in recent years. Would Winona be willing to let a coach come in and clean up a mess of a program? Plenty of athletes...

Unfortunately that seems to be the trend with the athletic program in Winona. Ill stop before i go too far but they need to rent a few dumpsters and clean house.

Ain't nothing new at Winona, the community and the Admin of the school views discipline and respect as overrated compared to a sub-par education

IS what happened to Le land HAnd getting the superintentent' job?

they hired a new supt cause change was needed..and they hired a new principal as well..both are hard on discipline and will make the changes needed if the community and school board allows them too..this has always been the case as in most small towns that the Board has to much say..

Maybe this is what they are going to do. Isn't their athletic director pretty new?

The boys basketball coach was not the one hired as the head coach. He did the best he could. The head basketball coach quit before, or at the beginning of district. He is also the softball coach right now....

I saw them early, it was the mid aged Hispanic gentlemen who was coaching. I can't speak for who was hired. I can speak of the general lack of discipline/respect from the young men on the team

A lot of you are right about our boys here in winona, they lack discipline but ive seen worse I believe we will find a guy to come in and change the program, football has only went up the past few seasons and has a bright future ahead of the young men returning from this years team, basketball will do the same

They should hire him. I bet no one is knocking the door down on this job.

He would be good. He's 24 or 25, but he's been coaching since he was 20.

I just think it'd be a tough first job for a guy that young. I don't know him that well, but I think he's in a pretty good situation at Gilmer.

I will say the few times I have talked to him I have been impressed. He will be a name to look at in a year or 2 for sure.
