Eagleborn
According to AggiesAreWe on setxsdpotts he received a one game suspension I'd assume that means two weeks in this case?
Sticker44
as horrible as this is, Celina QB last year intentionally breaking that kids ankle was much worse
Allheartnoquit
This is horrible an uncalled for since the play was away from the area. The reason the ref did not throw a flag was because the play was still going on and a whistle had not been blown and the QB in this position is not considered defenseless the QB should of had his head on a swivel. Either way that kid should be suspended for a few games. Coaches need to teach their QB to always be prepared and have their heads on a swivel on run plays. I am sure once UIL and TASO gets a hold of this game footage like they have there will be discipline but I understand the no flag on him.

longhorncrazy
Very late hit, should've been ejected, nothing like that Celina incident. Also don't be surprised if that Silsbee DB and Jasper QB are related to each other. According to newspaper article, those two are not related, despite having same last name.

Now come on 99 I have seen 15 yards called on a lot less than that when the hit is unnecessary? Just because its not a dead ball personal foul the unnecessary roughness should apply. Its the definition of it actually if you ask me
Coach0001
From NCCA Rule book and live ball personal fouls are discussed and are in the rule book. I again think it was flagrant and he should have been ejected ARTICLE 12. Contact Against an Opponent Out of the Play No player shall tackle or run into a receiver when a forward pass to him obviously is not catchable. This is a personal foul and not pass interference. No player shall run into or throw himself against an opponent obviously out of the play either before or after the ball is dead.

H3llR4z0r
as horrible as this is, Celina QB last year intentionally breaking that kids ankle was much worse It's the same concept. To my knowledge, the kid that Pingleton stepped on last year did not suffer any broken bones. But nonetheless, this was premeditated. You can see him slow down, think about it, then turn it on, and after he looks around to see if anyone saw him. I believe Pingleton received a 4 game suspension last year? Is that right? Or was it more? This is completely unacceptable. The reason rules are made to protect the QB so much now is because of life altering injuries associated with defenseless hits, and this is a perfect example. Not only that, but the ref is standing right there. Even if he didn't (which I'm almost certain he did) see the initial hit, I know he sees the QB laying on the ground squirming, and the play going the other way. If I was a coach, or a parent, they would definitely have to detain me with force.
DB2point0
The crew chief(white hat) official watched it and did not throw a flag. He is probably done officiating for a year. He should've thrown it the second it happened, that was pitiful
DB2point0
After watching the video, the ref wasn't looking at the QB, his head was turned towards the play. As soon as the ref comes into view the brim of his cap is facing the hit
Bonecrushr
I can't figure out why the ref wouldn't throw the flag. Yeah, the QB should have been more alert, but there's no reason to have a "no call". The NCAA rule several posts up makes it very clear IMO. Then to add insult to injury, a flag on the blindsided players coach? At some schools those two events would necessitate the refs having to being escorted to their cars by the law after the game. Not only does this leave a black mark on the player and his school, but also the competency of the zebras. When I was in high school we were known as a dirty team, but neither I or any of my teammates would have attempted this. Way over the line. To me this is akin to the big deal being made about kids being "decleated" when the play is on the other side of the field, say during a kickoff/punt return. Heard they were supposedly cracking down on that a little more this year.
Allheartnoquit
Yes Cotton84.....suspensions happen all the time without flags being thrown on plays. Hence he got suspended for a game already and there wasn't a flag. Should he been given a flag yes but I also know it is a judgement call from the White cap if the QB is defenseless or not and obviously the white cap did not see him as defenseless. Doomer
Wasn't helmet to helmet. It was a roughing penalty prolly but not necessarily ejection worthy. Lest that's how Doomy calls it. True storie

Coach Rab
Just throwing this out there... Big Rivalry, QB is a difference maker... any chance a coach encouraged players to take him out? Crazier things have happened! I've met some foul coaches in my life and none of them would encourage one of their own to take someone out this deliberate... The punching while in a pile or knee to the nuts or the throwing turf in the WR's face while in coverage has been overheard from time to time... but never "hey, when you see this kid just standing there away from the play, go do him like Goldberg from the WWE." There was one in Shelby county that encouraged stuff like this a few years ago... glad to say I think his coaching career is done.
