LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES 10.21.2016 - John Tyler 38, Longview 24 - Lobo Stadium 09.05.2015 - Longview 31, John Tyler 14 - Rose Stadium 09.05.2014 - John Tyler 41, Longview 25 - Lobo Stadium 09.03.2011 - Longview 38, John Tyler 22 - Rose Stadium 09.03.2010 - John Tyler 28, Longview 14 - Lobo Stadium FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW A rivalry 107 years in the making resumes Friday night with yet another game between the two schools being one of huge importance. The Lobos and Lions meet officially the 91st time this Friday night, unofficially it could be as highest as the 94th meeting, and for the second straight year it could decide who gets the #1 seed in 11-6A Division 2 and home field advantage in the Bi-District round as opposed to traveling to the #1 seed’s home out of 12-6A. Longview learned just how hard it is to win at someone else’s place during the postseason last year as the Lobos blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter against Beaumont West Brook to fall in Beaumont, 34-33. This week, the Lobos fresh off the district wide bye week, controlled the game all the way through against the Stallions of North Mesquite in route to a 41-7 victory. The win was their 5th in a row over North Mesquite, and their 10th overall victory vs the Stallions. While Longview was able to control the game for the get go, the Lions had a much more difficult adventure against the Hawks of Rockwall Heath. Heath grabbed a 33-22 lead in the early parts of the fourth quarter before John Tyler woke up and was able to come from behind to save virtually their season in a 37-33 victory over the Hawks. The win was a much needed win for the Lions with Longview and Horn still remaining, and a loss to the Hawks would’ve all but sent the Lions packing for the season. Now the two teams are set to face off in a crucial post season seeding showdown at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium, a place where Longview has not lost to the Lions since a 2000, 27-24 loss. Since that 2000 game, also the last time the Lobos missed the post season, the Lobos are 6-0 against the Lions in the Rose City with only one game being decided by a single score (10-6 in 2007). The last time the Lobos and Lions met at Rose was a 31-14 victory in Longview’s favor where the Lobos shutdown John Tyler in the second half 21-0. Since restarting the series in 2010, following a two year break, the Lobos and Lions have traded victories in the five meetings, with neither team able to put two wins together. The Longview vs John Tyler match up is definitely one that’s use to stipulations being on the line. In previous contests, 18 of the 90 match ups have had a hand in deciding a district championship. Coupled in with a few match ups deciding playoff berths and seeding (as recently as last season), the two old rivals definitely understand when the Lobos and Lions meet…something big is on the line. In 1939, Kenneth Hallmark ran in from two yards out in the 3rd quarter as Kilgore knocked off Longview in Lobo Stadium, 6-0, for their first ever win over the Lobos in 9 tries. The Lobos tossed for a then school record 36 pass attempts. In 1944, the Lobos knocked off Jacksonville 19-0 at Lobo Stadium. In 1961, Longview knocked off Marshall for the third time in four season for the first time since the early 1940s in a 22-0 victory. In 1967, Marshall committed five turnovers and were unable to control Rodney Hill, Steve Judy or Sid Sistrunk as the Lobos rolled all over their rivals to the east in a 31-0 victory for Longview at Lobo Stadium. In 1972, Longview rolled up 336 rushing yards and held the Dragons to -8 total yards on the night in a 35-6 victory over Nacogdoches at Lobo Stadium. In 1978, the Tigers of Texarkana rushed for 306 yards and held the Lobos to just 156 as Texas High defeated Longview for the first time in five seasons in a 21-0 victory over the Lobos at Grim Park. In 1989, a year after ending the 19-game losing streak to the Lobos, Marshall proved it wasn’t a fluke as the Mavs handed Longview what continues to be their biggest loss ever in Lobo Stadium. The Mavericks, winners 35-2, held Longview to just 57 total yards on the night and 4 first downs. In 1995, Isiah Stoker rushed for four touchdowns, including a 93 yard rush, and Longview rolled up 364 rushing yards as the Lobos knocked off Tyler Lee, 35-8. The win was Longview’s 20th win in their previous 24 meetings over the Red Raiders. In 2000, Longview committed three fourth quarter turnovers that would prove to be the difference as the Mavericks knocked off Longview 38-28 at Maverick Stadium. On the day, the Lobos committed five turnovers. In 2006, John Tyler jumped out to a 14-0 lead at halftime before D’Marcus Miles and Jazmon Moon turned the tide for Longview in a 28-21 Lobo victory at Lobo Stadium. The win was Longview’s eighth in a row over their rivals to the west.

ANTI
Come on guys! When was the last time Cujo lost to the Lobos.2015. You'd have to go back almost 20 years to find the last time JT beat Longview at Rose. Longview shouldn't lose this game at all.

JTFAN99
Def has made some adjustments and they have played well lately. Tre Allison has been very good. Offensive is still a little shaky. Too many flags. Still need to get the QB thing in line. Warren is a good passer, but not much of a threat to run. Which limits to offense. Woods probably isn't as accurate, but he is a threat to run. I would probably stick with him at QB.

3rdcoastent
I think they should do what Longview was doing play both but of i have to start one I'm leaning more towards woods just a little but Warren can be the guy he just isn't going to take off to run but he shred is quick and getting away from defenders i saw him pull some Tony Romo moves allot to extend the plays

LoboFan07
I think as long as Longview doesnt go down the turnover machine again, they should be good to go in this one. Avoid anymore injuries please.
