Quiet?  Nice?

This too shall pass ... tis early ... and the rooster must crow several more times before Friday ... with each crowing will come more chest beating ... and the meek shall seek the shelter of other posts ... and regardless of the banter, no one can be ultimately assured which fowl is greater - a Hawk or a Cardinal ... for that is left for their respective feathered youth to decide ... youth who care less about the scripted rantings of old guys with nothing else to do ... but beware - another dawn cometh ... and with it, keyboardic chaos will ensue ... but the gods of the UIL will be happy - as long as they get their 15% when the dust from the combat settles ....

Strength of schedule is something to look at. They have played a few good teams and have come out on top...they aren't undefeated though.

2. This has not been a real issue this year but it has reared it's ugly head a few times. It's a mental thing and I'm sure the coaches will put that on their brain this week. But you are 100% right. One fumble is unacceptable. One missed snap is unacceptable. Even if they do not result in turnovers. Unacceptable.

3. Our secondary is fast smart and driven. They do a great job and have rarely been burned. Melissa has a good receiver that we are going to have to take care of and I'm sure he will get his catches but we've shut down D1 receives this year so we have to do it again.

4. He is a beast!

No, you don't understand. Let me enlighten you. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of smack talk. What has happened to you guys is, you have been disrespected for so long that you automatically assume that just because someone has a different opinion or point of view, that they are disrespecting your team. I try not to disrespect any team...individual posters are a different story. You'll know if I have no respect you...it will be obvious. That being said, there are still some very good football teams left on the road to state. We will see how the game turns out, but don't think if you get by us you'll go all the way.

Everything you just said reeks of homer. Every post you have posted has homer painted all over it. We both beat Gilmer...big whoop. I have said since the district game that we would not face Gilmer again, I didn't think they would make it past you guys. I've been watching ya'll. You guys are a very good football team and this Friday is going to be a battle, but we are a great football team. Gilmer held ya'll to 0 for a half? If they can do that...I mean, the Blackhawk Defense is on another level...you don't see this stuff on Friday nights...you want to get a good idea of how PG plays D? Watch some football on Saturday and Sunday.

Surely you don't think beating Gilmer on a neutral site equates to beating them at home in District play where they hadn't been beaten in a very long time...this game may be close but Melissa will not have 500 yards of offense.

Well, lets talk about Friday night...

After watching the highlights, the only thing I can say is that Gilmer's defense was not up to the task. Ya'll should have scored a few times in the first half but that was because Melissa messed up, Gilmer's D had nothing to do with that.

You have a great QB WR set up and that is going to be more difficult to cover than usual but nothing we haven't shut down before. Our secondary is more than capable. You won't be able to get through our D line like you did against Gilmer.

As far as our offense...I guess I can take my homer hat off a second...We have to hold on to the ball and our backs could block better. 

That hurt...

The film shows Melissa to be a good football team that is capable of making big plays, we will have to see how they match up against our Hawks.

So, what's up with Melissa? We don't get to converse with each other often, what's ya'll's story?

Our story in a nutshell: 4 years ago we hired a new AD/HC. Since the first year, we have improved as a football team, athletic program, and community. We have seen successes across the board. This graduating class came in with Coach during their freshman year and they are a very tight-knit group. We are on fire and excited to be here!

Melissa is a fairly new school opening the high school in 2004. They have had lots of success in football over the years and winning the state title in 2011. Head Coach AD Seth Stint on has been on Melissa I believe since 2008. 2014 and 2015 saw Melissa take a huge nose dive south in football. Last year Melissa got a taste of winning again and made it 2 rounds in the playoffs before Gilmer blew us out of Mesquite Hanby Stadium. This year we have a lot of youth that are stellar Atheletes that have grown up big time and are awesome football players. There is speed all over the field. I was fortunate to get to talk to a few Gilmer folks that are on this site after the game and they all were in awe of how much better and faster Melissa got in 1 year. What I liked hearing the most was them saying we should beat PG and that PG hasn't seen the Atheletes that Melissa has this year. They even went as far to say they believed Melissa to be as good as Carthage this year. 

So there you are take it for what it's worth. The game still has to be played.

PG hasn’t seen the Athletes???  Dude they’ve  seen just as good everyday in practice. Marshall doesn’t have Athletes? Liberty Eylau?? Arkansas High?
