Hagar
One more comment on this fantastic game.  I don't think anyone will argue Manvel has a good defense, since prior to this game they'd only allowed an average of 14.3 points a game.  They held the Scots to 10 points in the first half.  Then Highland Park scored 43 points in the second half.  That's huge, bordering on the impossible, and certainly highly improbable.  In the excitement at the end of the game, I never gave it a thought.  Watched the second half again today, and it dawned on me what a huge effort by the Scots that was.  Don't know anything personal about HP except they're mostly rich, and doubt they'd have anything to do with someone from Evadale, but them boys can play football. Imo, this game will rank up there as one of the best SC games of all time.  It epitomizes what Texans love about HS football.

Hookemhorns88
As a Texas alum I will never, ever, pull for OU even if they are representing the conference; put A&M in the same category. Now, there are times where I may root for a particular player on the said teams, but collectively, no.

Won't upset me if they don't well Mizzou might. So you chant for conference mates of aTm but don’t chant for district mates of Henderson?  You make little sense.  You don’t pull for rivals, but you just admitted you do.  1

In college makes the conference look better during bowl season genius. Carthage winning state makes your entire district look better.  What’s the difference? DB2point0
4 hours ago, Lion70 said: Making District look better is only for bragging rights. I honestly don't care what carthage and kilgore do . Winning conference games gets more $$ a enhances the brand of the conference. At the end of the day carthage could come from a powderpuff District and no one would care. I only root for conference teams when they aren't playing sec teams which would be bowls. However, I don't care if Georgia/ bama wins but I do root for them to beat a Bevo 10 conference team. You better think twice if you doubt that people across the state respect the district of doom.  Just look at the teams from there that have won titles or played in the title game.  There’s mad respect for it.   Kinda sounds like you just have a problem with teams who are the daddy to your preferred teams.

Highland park outcoached Manvel Highland Park played a great game ... that said, there were a few very bad calls, and no calls, that went HP's way that turned the tide and I do believe reversed the outcome of the game. Just to name a couple ... the HP receiver 88 blatantly pushed off on his first TD reception ... on another HP long TD run a Manvel LB closing in to make a tackle was literally tackled by a HP blocker right in front of an official with no flag thrown ... everyone around me also immediately knew it should have been called holding ... there were a few other very bad calls as well ... It was a great game, but I hate to see that kind of officiating .... Allheartnoquit
One of the best finishes in Texas high school football......definitely not the best but 1 of the best. it almost reminded me of the Titans when they got stopped at the 1 against the rams! Lmbo, no.  We did just get a Super Wal-Mart.  Actually, it's a Dollar General, but for us, it's like a SW.  Got a papermill that when the wind is right will burn the hair outta your nose.  And a little bar-b-q stand with a big painting on his fence of a Pig, with the words, The good smell in Evadale lol.  Vidor has a DQ, & they're only 15 miles south.  Heck, in Tx, that's right next door.  So I guess my question is, do y'all have a Dollar General?  I know you have one heckuva football team.  One of the most exciting games I've ever seen, and at my age, I've seen a bunch. Well bat poo.  Just saw you live in Austin.  Talk about bar-b-q.  Since most TV is terrible, I sometimes watch those shows where they do food, especially bbq.  Saw several in Austin that had me drooling.  After watching them, if someone threw a piece of brisket on the floor, I'd brake both kneecaps getting to it. I'm glad you took my comment in the good nature in which it was intended. It was indeed a heckuva game. Manvel has some studs but HP hung around long enough to make the key plays to win. The on-sides kick worked like it's drawn up. Even with all that Manvel darn nearly pulled off the miracle. Indeed it was a fun game to watch.

Indeed it was a fun game to watch.  It's all good.  Although I made a local move here after Rita & Ike about 7 years ago, I realize Evadale is a "blink and miss it town", but I really like this little gem  amidst the pines and bayous.  Niches River about 30 yards from football field.  Like most places, bunch of good folks, and a few bad. And yes, it was a heckuva game to watch.  Enjoyed the exchange. Good luck to the Scots next year.
