2/6/17 schedule
Chapel Hill @ Spring Hill
Gladewater @ Bullard
Kilgore @ Gilmer

On the boys side,  we have a battle for first and a battle for last.

On the girls side, the Kilgore/Gilmer game will decide how 1,2,3 play out. The CH/SH game could determine who gets Tatum in the first round as their prize.

2

On the Boys side, it also played out that the Chill/Shill game would determine who got Tatum in the first round as their prise. But why did the boys play a volleyball game to determine? It was the third game so 19 to 14 had to be the third set of a volleyball game. This time by losing Chill won the prize and got Tatum. They also won the prize of getting to play in a gym they had just played the VB game in.

Tatum Eagles (Home) vs Chapel Hill (Visitors)

Date: Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Where: Winona High School
When: 7:00 pm
but does Winona have someone smart enough to put the players #on the scoreboard and the number of fouls? Just went to a playoff determining game in Henderson and an AREA game in Whitehouse, where UIL picked the officials but the scoreboard operator was too lazy or didn't know how to work the clock. Or could it be both schools didn't pay the operator enough to post this evidently very hard act?

Longview New Journal:  Bulldog coach Robert Sampson described his most unusual strategy this way, "We were just trying to get to the fourth quarter with nobody hurt. We got a playoff game Tuesday."

Apparently risk of injuries were biggest concern for Chapel Hill on Friday...not trying to win district.  :-)

It worked for the coach.  Not one player was hauled out on a stretcher or needed medical attention so congrats on staying healthy.  I'm sure Tatum will be very banged up after actually trying in their seeding games so advantage Chapel Hill.   :-)

So HHS90 did you go to the game? Was the game slow enough that the clock operator was able to post the very small amount of fouls on the scoreboard?

Does Winona have a scoreboard that has a place for who fouled? did the district games you go to this year, post who fouled and the number?

Chapel Hill coach had his mind set on a game Tuesday night. No thought of, we could play on Monday night where we could scout for the next game and extra practice day.

No thought, we could play on Monday night and watch the girls, or possibly even a double hitter on Tuesday night.

Guess maybe the chill coach had a poker game on Monday or an Olympic event he wanted to watch.  Curling can get exciting.

I did go to the game and was expecting to see a great competative match up.  Fouls were posted on the clock and game was handled competently by Winona ISD...no problems there as best I could tell.

It was apparent CHill coach did not want to be there Friday. Thus looked to not have his team really compete as a way of protest for "having" to play?   My unofficial  take on it.....

thanks for the info on foul posting.  Glad to know Winona did a good job.

posting the fouls on the scoreboard serve several purposes. The ref could hold up two fingers on each hand and scorekeeper only see it as a 12 not 22 as ref intended.1. So misreading refs signal one. 2. in the excitement the scorekeeper puts the mark on #23 by mistake, 3. not that this has ever happened but there at on time might be a dishonest sk. 4. Letting the fans keep up with the game.5. If posted on a scoreboard less likely a mistake is made.

Gladewater did not have anyone that was able to post the fouls on the scoreboard at a Quarterfinal game.

Gilmer  girls runs a motion offence most of the time, running cutters for their two bigs . Argyle play a tight zone and shut done Gilmer  inside game. You have to make adjustments. Tatum relied on run and gun offense, mam defense, Sanger made adjustments.

They did run a zone they played man for the most part and our 6’2 Sr post didn’t play

She would have helped, but like any sport, basketball is about how you match up with the other team. The paper said the other big didn't score much, my point being you can't put all your eggs in one basket. Gilmer  had a fine season.
