NFL Offseason

Recommended Posts

Per Adam Schefter’s Twitter-

Chiefs have agreed to trade Qb Alex Smith to the Redskins, as @TerezPaylor reported.

Kirk Cousins now will be leaving Washington.

QB Alex Smith and Washington now have reached an agreement on a new four-year contract extension, per sources. Smith, who had one year left on his contact, tied to Washington for next five seasons. Smith gets long-term deal from Washington that Cousins could not.

Holy cow!!! You Franchise Tag Kirk Cousins for what 2,3 years? Then you trade for a 33 year old QB AND give him a 4 year extension??? Crazy.

Now what do you do if your the Browns? I’d sign Cousins. That’d give me the #1 and #4 pick in the draft. Draft Saqoun Barkley and Minkah Fitzpatrick and watch the rise of the newest super power in the AFC.

Browns will draft a punter and qb who should be picked 2nd round. Browns gonna Browns, it's tradition.

I think Cousins will end up in Denver

Seeing that I only watched highlights and the SuperBowl, I hope this NFL off-season the league mandates one of 2 things (1) TV channels no longer broadcast protests during games nor speak of their own personal beliefs regarding politics or religion or sexual preference during a game broadcast or (2) Fine the TV stations for doing the above without censorship of what is/was spoken or shown.

The other thing I would like to see happen is that New Orleans hires a coach to teach the secondary how to tackle.

Breaking: 49ers and QB Jimmy Garoppolo reportedly agree to 5-year, $137.5 million contract; Largest deal in NFL history on average-per-year basis https://t.co/tp5raBo5yF https://t.co/9mVBVVWtlU

That's crazy to me.  I realize he's 7-0 in the NFL, but c'mon that's going overboard.  I can see maybe $17-$19 million, but he's the top paid player in the NFL.  They are overpricing the QB position.  I think $20 million should be the tops, but there are 15 QB's now making over $20 million.

That’s what $27.5m a year? How do you expect to build a team around somebody when your overspending that much? If you pay him like Dave said, that $7.5m could be a starter or two or at least a couple good backups. Look at Baltimore and Flacco. They haven’t been back to the Super Bowl but Flacco got paid.

Looking at their salary cap they have plenty to spend even with his signing.  They now have $89.5 and change to spend on players.  That could get you 10 solid free agents if they were out there.   http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/cap/

That would be a rough city to live in.  Especially as a football fan... This is coming from a Saints fan that had to endure the 80s and most of the 90s...

Ex-NFL player Jonathan Martin's disturbing post might have led to school closing https://t.co/uW7ypveaYt

I don't know if this is real or not, but if it is that dude is more nuts than I originally thought.

*EDIT: MARTIN THREATENS DOLPHINS? - Former bullied @MiamiDolphins player Jonathan Martin has been taken into custody after a possible threatening social media post mentioning the Dolphins and ex-teammates.

Jags just gave Bortles an extension. 3yrs $54 mil

He can thank his defense for that.

Below from Schefter:

Jaguars are giving QB Blake Bortles a new three-year, $54 million deal, worth up to $66.5M with incentives, that includes $26.5M guaranteed, tying him to Jacksonville through the 2020 season, per source.

Jacksonville out of QB market.

Short contract at a somewhat reasonable QB rate... not a bad move by the Jags
