Alto was able to overcome seven turnovers to post the win. Westwood led 14-8 at halftime, but the Mean Sting came out a different team in the second half. After the Alto defense closed the door on the Panthers on the first possession of the final half, the Mean Sting Scored a touchdown to move in front 15-14. The Yellowjackets managed to hold on to the lead the rest of the way. After a Fred Thacker rushing touchdown that came at the 8:52 mark of the third frame, Alto increased its lead to 22-14. The Mean Sting doubled up the Panthers 28-14 at one point, but Westwood came back and scored to make the score 28-21 in favor of the visitors. Alto had plenty of gas left in its tank as the Mean Sting, featuring the hard-nosed running of Thacker outscored Westwood 20-7 the rest of the game to log the triumph.
