GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW
Perfect. That's what the Longview Lobos accomplished on Friday night against Mesquite with a 55-24 victory. A perfect 10-0 season, the first since 2005, gave Longview an outright district championship and just their 10th 10-0 season in program history. Three of those 10 have come under head coach John King, who improved to 162-36 overall as head coach of the Lobos and 84-6 in district play in his 15 seasons. The Lobos also won their 13th district title in those 15 seasons under King, but just their first outright title since 2014 (were tri-champions with Marshall/Texas High in 2015 and co-champions in 2016 with John Tyler). With the win, the Lobos will get to host their 2nd consecutive bi-district contest. This time, unlike last year against a foe that had previously knocked them out the year before, the Lobos will face a foe that they have no history or familiarity with. The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs. The Bulldawgs won their way into the post season by upsetting the Temple Wildcats by a 22-18 scoreline. The Dawgs trailed 18-7 in the 4th quarter before mounting a huge comeback victory to hand the Wildcats their second consecutive loss. The Lobos are currently riding a 13-game winning streak at home, having not lost since 2016 against John Tyler. Longview is 78-5 officially at Lobo Stadium under John King (with one forfeit), dating back to 2004. Longview comes into their bi-district game with a 12-2 records in Bi-District contests under John King. Both losses have come by 1-point (14-13 vs South Garland, 34-33 at Beaumont West Brook). This is just the 4th time Longview will host a bi-district game at the "new" Lobo Stadium. In 1984, Bryan came into Lobo Stadium and knocked off the Lobos 24-14. In 2009, Longview trailed 7-3 after one quarter against Whitehouse before taking over for a 52-9 victory. And last season, Longview led 7-6 at halftime over Beaumont West Brook before dominating the 3rd and 4th quarters for a 42-21 victory. Cove heads into Lobo Stadium, entering the post season for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons. However, the Dawgs have not won a playoff game since 2011 when they knocked off Mesquite Horn, 48-47. Since then, Cove has lost 6 post season games in a row (Rowlett, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Rockwall, Rockwall and DeSoto). Last season's 44-6 loss was the first time since 2012 (remembering they made the post season in 2013, 2014 and 2015) that they had kept a team they were playing under 67 points. The post season is finally here, a time that Longview fans, players and coaches have been waiting for since last December. Let the good times roll.

Set the tone. Blow them out.

That can't be overstated...I have watched Alvarez coached teams over the years and it is no secret that I am high on him...but the one thing about his teams that I hate is the cut blocking they do....our defensive linemen are going to take it hard on the hips and knees....

What’s a potential second round site for the bos if y’all win? Kincade, the star, mesquite?

We'll find out early in the week I'm sure. Usually we have a four way agreement when King is involved.

Not looking too far ahead, but I would imagine King would try for Rose or Kincaide....I have a feeling Prosper would try for McKinney's new place tbh. I see no way that Naaman beats Prosper.

Rose would make it dream work for the Lobo Nation!

Longview ended the regular season...
On a 12-game district winning streak. The 5th longest in school history. King's teams have 3 of the top 5.
On a 16-game regular season winning streak. The 4th longest in school history. King's teams have 2 of the top 4.
And on a 10-game overall winning streak. Tied for 11th longest in school history. It's the 8th time in King's tenure that the Lobos have won at least 10 games in a row.

Longview has also won 12 games in a row at Lobo Stadium. Friday's game will mark the 230th all-time Longview game at "new" Lobo Stadium. Lobos are 186-37-6 overall there.
