MattStepp
So the guy who three-peated wasn't good enough?? What exactly is good enough?? Ponder isn't some no name Coach...he's got a solid record, has led a team to a title and led 3 other teams to the quarter-finals...and the job he did at a perennial loser is pretty dang good...he won't get enough credit for what he did at Bells but take a look: Bells prior to Ponder 2005: 0-10 2006: 2-8 2007: 1-9 2008: 0-10 2009: 4-6 2010: 6-5 2011: 1-9 2012: 0-10 2013: 1-9 Ponder arrives 2014: 8-4 2015: 5-6 2016: 7-4 2017: 8-3 2018: 4-7 (moving up to 3A from 2A)

Had scored only 32 points that season. Sounds like coach Ponder really turn that team around from the start.

supermaroon
Ponder did a good at Bells they had been the laughing stock in the area along with Chisum. Interesting to see what Bells will do now.

TexWes
I can vouch that Ponder is a dang good coach and from my experience he is a pretty good man too. I think Center made a nice hire

I for one I'm excited about the hiring of Scott Ponder as the new AD/HFC. Every coach that the Board had decided on through out the years, I try to always be optimistic. A few whiners don't reflect on how others in our community feels. I hope the majority of the Center community, maybe even other communities in this county, will get behind our new coach, and support him in every way that we can. If y'all, (the Center community), want success to come to our football program, then get behind your coach. He's not going to be perfect, he's going to make mistakes. But who don't on their job. And be realistic about your expectation from coach Ponder. GO RIDERS!! 2

He has a proven record of putting up big offensive numbers, so that should provide a lot of “fun to watch” games for all the football experts in Center.
DOB
Every situation is a little different because all the human dynamics are different in each location. Will be interesting to see what and how he chooses to deal with these dynamics. Regardless, I wish him well on his new adventure.
