No reflection on EB or Canadian.  Both played their hearts out.  My opinion on the psychological letdown of Newton is based on my having a doctorate degree in psychology from Vidor Jr High  :mower:

I’ll say one thing, there were some real good matchups this year (with a few exceptions, Aledo for one) ending with the two 6A Championships.  My local West Brook team played a great game, but the Lobo QB’s great arm & receivers were just to much.  And I’d hate to have been the Back Judge in the N. Shore v Duncanville game.  Must have felt like a bug about be stomped on.  Them guys were BIG.  And my last comment, where did football season go?  Seem like we blinked our eyes and BOOM, it’s over.

I was just giving you a hard time because Canadian played my Gunter Tigers who I think were pretty good!

Yeah, this season seemed to fly by.  See everyone next year.  Merry Christmas!

Yes sir, Pax, Gunter was very good. They would have played Newton much closer this year than they did last year. This year flew by fast - too fast, but it was very fun. There were some really good teams this year in 3A D2. I realize that one poster does not have any respect for the teams that are out west, but I wish that the smoaky folks could have seen Abernathy and Childress play football. Those two teams had some real power. Very well disciplined, physical, and would lay the wood. I believe that the smoaky fellas who appreciate physical football would have enjoyed seeing those two teams play. Yall have a Merry Christmas!

The ref wasn't giving Barlow the TD that made it 21 to 0 at half. He marked the ball at the 2 yrd line. Thanks to replay overturned. The field  goal jumping call was bs.

Yes, it was ...

I posted this on another thread, but decided to bring it over hear since there is still chatter on this one. My butt is still chaffing from the insane calls made by the officials. Not just in the Newton game, the Whittington kid and a Highland park kid got screwed out of beautiful catches because of dumb rule interpretations. Here goes!!

Another suggestion is to adopt specific rules for using the replay, review process. They should do just like Major League Baseball. Once the review ruling is made, the official on the ground has no say. After clear and convincing evidence is established, the replay official makes the call, no argument by coaches or officials. Just like Judge Roy Bean "that's my rullin'."

I didn't see anyone jump over anyone, or even jump and push off another player.  All I saw was two Newton defenders jump up with their arms up behind the line of scrimmage.  I didn't see anything that could even remotely be against the rules unless it's simply against the rules to jump up to block a kick ... it looked to me like that ref was just looking for anything to call a penalty on on that play ... smh

The replay officials ruling is final and can’t be overturned by the officials field.

You may be right, although I don't know how you know that since this was a pilot program adopted for the first time in high school. Be that as it may it didn't look like it to me , on the Canadian receiver going out of bounds and coming back in to catch the ball during their game with Newton.  Having said all that, I think I've kicked that dead horse enough. Bad calls happen in every game, just look at the cowboy game Sunday.

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

That's right, and you need to remember that all through this game

I will conquer what has not been conquered

Defeat will not be in my creed

I will believe what others have doubted

I will always endeavor to pull esteem, honor, and respect out of my team

I have trained my mind and my body will follow

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

I will acknowledge the fact that my opponent does not expect me to win

But I will never surrender

Weakness will not be in my heart

I will look to my comrades and to those who are a part of me in this world and those who have trained

me

And I will draw strength from them

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

I will gladly go out into the field of battle

And I will move in everything I can do

And I will reach my field of battle by any means at my disposal

And when I get there, I will arrive violently

I will rip the heart from my enemy, and leave it bleeding on the ground

Because he cannot stop me

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

To my side I have comrades, comrades that have been with me through thick and thin

Who have sacrificed their blood, sweat and tears

Never will I let them fall, never will I let them down, and I will never leave an enemy behind

Because our opponent does not know my heart

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

No one will deny me, no one will define me

And no one will tell me who and what I am and can be

Belief will change my world

It has moved continents, it has moved countries, it has put men on the moon

And it will carry me through this battle

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Defeat, retreat: those are not in my words

I don't understand those definitions

I don't understand when things go wrong

I don't understand mistakes

But I do understand this:

I understand victory,

And I understand never surrendering

No matter how bad things go my heart and my mind will carry my body through limits and weakness

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Today will be that day

Not tomorrow, not next week, but right now, right here

In your house and in your homes

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

History will remember me

I will not let worrying affect my cause

I will define myself

I will write my own pages

And no one will tell me what I cannot be

I will never give up

Not until Ive given everything I got

Because who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Who am I? I AM A CHAMPION!

Dam moe, your killing me. This is awesome. I don't mean any disrespect, but # 8 should read this and take it to heart. This applies to football as well as life.

Can’t say enough about the Newton story....

Sherry: I know you, but I don't know Joe, and I know this came from your heart. Ed is a lucky man to have you as a wife, because this is truly a story that needs to be told in the loudest kinda way, and you are the person to tell it. You touched me greatly with your tribute to this find young man, who, I have no doubt will become a glory to God. This is beyond football, this is a human story in the "American way."

This is what we are.

God Bless you, and yours
