I cant recall many times when he's "taken it to the house" for the Horns. I thought he looked as good as he ever has, last night. Over 100 yards rushing, which I think he has only done that a couple of times in his Career. Your expectations are probably a little high because you watched him in high school. Like Hookem said, this ain't Carthage, TX.

That’s a fair observation... I can agree with your statement.

This a stratospherically different level than 4A Highshool football.

This game never really felt... like the 2 teams were necessarily on the same level. To me, Texas bullied them for the most part of the game. If Texas hadn't muffed those 2 punts, it would have been 36-16 or worse, imo. The Jake Smith muff I can understand, but there was no sense in Brandon Jones diving down for that punt. That was just ridiculous. One of those moments when you're yelling at the TV "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??" But, mistakes happen. Better to happen now than on Oct. 12th.

Other than that, I felt like Texas really didn't exert themselves much. Pretty much just lined up and ran it down their throats all night. Now we'll coast into a bye week and hopefully get a lot of guys healthy. I can't wait for OU to pop up at the Cotton bowl and play their first quality team. I hope we go right in there and punch them in the mouth.

Hook'em!

Thought the defense did a good job of bowing their necks when it game gut-check time. Was frustrated with Orlando's scheme to stop the run game. Offense played pretty well. Sam is a stud. Ingram played really well. Duvernay is playing his way into a nice NFL career. It never fails that wonky things happen when playing OSU. Was glad to see them put it away late with that run by Ehlinger. I couldn't get 37-36 out of my mind.

Can't knock them too much though. I don't think they really focused on stopping the QB as much as they did Hubbard. I mean, Hubbards YPC dropped from 7.9 to 6.2 on the season. I'm wayyyyyyy more worried about the secondary. Which, I will say, when OU comes to Dallas, we're gonna have to have our QB run situation under control. I don't think Jalen Hurts will be near as easy to get our bluff in on as Murray was. I know last year we laid the wood to Murray a couple of times, and it took him a full 2 quarters to decide he wanted to run again. Hurts will be tougher. I hope BJ Foster is back in the lineup by the time that rolls around. He's such a physical player, and man does he hit hard.

I feel you on the 37-36 though. Post-game interview with Sam said they told him to "only throw if he's wide open." Just goes to show you how good his decision making has gotten, even in the heat of the moment. His interception I feel like, was a direct product of being able to high-point with Johnson, and I don't feel like Epps has the ups that Johnson has just yet.

The defense held the number 1 receiver in the country to 5 receptions for 83 yards and 0 touchdowns. Forced 2 interceptions, and it took OSU's running back 37 carries to get 100 yards. And a majority of that production came with backups in the secondary. I feel good about the defense.

See I’m just the opposite about the defense.  They contained a potent RB.  It took Hubbard almost 40 carries to get 110yds.  He worked for his 3.3 yard average and took a beating doing it.

It was the qb running that was the difference in the running game.  The reason it was is the db’s couldn’t tackle him after Texas lost containment on him.  He converted a couple first downs that extended drives and walked in on a TD.  Every time a DB missed an arm tackle or dive at his feet

The 3 DL and LBs did their job against the ground game IMO

dont get me started against the pass rush and inability  of db’s to turn their head and locate the ball.  All the INTs Texas has so far are overthrows into the safety or tipped passes at the LOS.

Some young DBs are going to get heavy playing time in one of the biggest rivalries in the sport. Add to that, Texas has to win if they want to keep playoff hopes alive.

Maybe some good news is Riley will have to redo his game plan to compensate for all the new players in the secondary.
