Coach Mercer has really done a great job getting the boys teams up to par with the rest of the district. Basketball, baseball, track, etc are doing really well, which is great. The girls teams, other than golf are defiantly lagging behind and need "more". The girls CAN be competitive in other sports, but they just need someone who will push them more than they are used to. It's hard to explain, I don't want to offend anyone, so I'll just leave it at that. I don't know who they will choose, but the board knows what they need out of the new AD/HC, and this hire, IF they choose a certain someone, will be HUGE and will have a ripple effect throughout East Texas IMO. I would think he will evaluate and speak with the current coaches and decide afterwards about making changes, but bringing in his own staff would make sense.
