I can agree with this. The corner was legit and absolutely shut down our #1, but the other receivers were open at times and just didn’t make the catch. I think Gilmer will be the best team Connally has faced so far, especially defensively. They beat Fairfield by 5, Gilmer was  up on Fairfield by 42 in the 4th when they put subs in. I’ve watched both and I just don’t think Connally has enough to beat the Buckeyes. Rainy weather in the forecast, so we will see what happens

Fair assessment. As far as common opponents go, you also need to look at Spring Hill. SH gave Gilmer a good game. It appeared CC was on a whole different level than SH. Should be a good matchup. If Gilmer can stop the run, they will definitely win the game.

Man stop it Spring Hill scored two late tds when we took out starters and how about Fairfield almost best Connally. I believe it was 40-35 and we could of put 80 on them

Gilmer will be without their best defensive lineman, as he is out for the playoffs with an ACL injury.  That will mean Bush will have to play more at defensive end, and Smith more at RB.  That will certainly hurt their depth.

Mason Hurt did not injure his shoulder, only bruised.  It is sore, but hopefully he can play.  Bigger hope is it doesn't affect his passing ability.

Rain would help the running team, so that might play to the advantage of Connally. But this might also be Newton 2.0. They were a really good team with no passing game, and Gilmer was able to shut them down. Hopefully it will be the same result.

I think it does hurt not having #5 but from what I have seen from #27 and #44 I think we will be just fine

Connally has a lot of kids, but most didn’t play. They put the backups in during the 4th, but while the starters were in, they only ran #4 and the QB. Gilmer runs several guys at RB, but I think if Bush has to play more defense than usual, Smith can certainly get the job done, as well as #11 at QB. The corner #2 will probably take Gilmer’s top receiver completely out of the game, but if #2 and #4 can make some catches and stretch the field, it will open up that run game. I think they should just approach this game like Fairfield, Connally is similar.

Gilmer is about the best 9-3 team there is. Losses to Paris (early), Carthage, and PG. WC is solid all the way around. The Gilmer D has shown much improvement from last year. My gut says Gilmer finds a way to get it done in a close one. Furthermore, I think Gilmer winning is the only way PG is dethroned from Region 2. They have seen their offense and played them super tough. I just think one week to prep for PG just isn’t enough these days. Gilmer by 3.

This will be a close game, I think.  However, I have to go with Gilmer.  They are not afraid to hit and from what I saw last year, Waco is not as physical as some of the E. Texas teams.

This is set up to fit right into Gilmer's wheelhouse of a game.

Gilmer wins by 6

Gilmer will win at ease, I say by 21 points

I believe Gilmer wins, but it won't be easy. Granted the Buckeye's have played a tougher schedule, but Waco Connelly is legit. They will defiantly need to wrap up and tackle this week, that RB is big, fast and tough to bring down. The QB is not big, but is quick and "shifty". Expect a good game, but it may come down to a FG or something.

The reason for what I said is because they barely beat china springs who came in 4th in our district , But who knows I could be wrong.

If Gilmer and Pleasant Grove meet again and both teams play their best game, PG will win by at least two touchdowns.

I thought the CC Secondary was very good. The QB that plays safety is a stud on Defense just like Offense. The shutdown corner is the real deal. Pretty much stopped SH's top receiver all night long. I liked the fact he shadowed him all over the field and played the old school bump and run. Dont see that much anymore.

His last name is Nichols and he is currently committed to play safety for us. I was impressed with his tape.
