Nah, wish we had about 3 or so from our district in the Top 10. I can remember a time when Alto, Elkhart, Grapeland, and Groveton were all there at once...same district and only 2 advanced to the playoffs. Seems like all 4 teams were state ranked and Grapeland and Elkhart advanced to the playoffs. They played in district and then met again in the quarterfinals that year. Grapeland won and advanced to the semifinals. The loss you are talking about to Elkhart was our home opener in 2013, first game of the season. BleedSandieMaroon
Unless there are a rash of injuries or some bad report cards (or God help us COVID), this is Grapeland`s district to lose. Alto has been really disappointing and I'm not sold on Groveton yet. Everyone else in our district is so-so. But this is 2020, a year where everything may change 5 minutes from now. Who knows? villagegenius
Grapeland appears to be separating from the pack. It’s wide open after that IMO. Groveton has the high ranking but they haven’t been very convincing. Alto has struggled to finish drives and protect the ball but the defense plays scrappy. Leon is scoring but giving up plenty of points. Centerville looked better last week, but how bad is corrigan? Normangee had an impressive win week 1 and looked to be getting the best of Garrison as well.

topher805
So weird to see Alto at 0-3. Tough schedule for sure, but just weird to see. You can also see the improvement from week to week in the scores... I think Grapeland is in the drivers seat right now, but that game against Alto is going to be tough. Grapeland hasn't beaten Alto since the early 90's. Lost something like 14 straight and all by double digits. This looks like a year where the Sandies have a good chance to break through, but it won't be easy. Gonna be a heck of a game here in a couple of weeks...
