Whitehouse will be a busy place the next few days as they will host at least one game in every Bi-district match-up between 15-5A and 16-5A.

On paper.....Sulphur Springs, Hallsville, and Huntsville appear to be heavy favorites.  The WH/MP series looks intriguing.

Some good games the next few days if you are close to Whitehouse.

DISTRICT 15-5A BASEBALL
Hallsville (10-1), (22-5)
Longview (8-3), (20-6-1)
Texas High (7-5), (13-7-1)
Marshall (6-5), (12-12)
Sulphur Springs (6-5), (10-14)
Pine Tree (1-10), (4-19)
Mount Pleasant (1-10), (7-16-1)

GAME 13
Longview beat Marshall 5-1
Texas High beat Mount Pleasant 17-2
Hallsville beat Pine Tree 11-1 (Monday)
Sulphur Springs- OFF

Hallsville has clinched the district championship.  Longview has clinched the #2 slot and Texarkana has clinched the #3 slot.  The fourth and final slot is still up for grabs between Marshall and Sulphur Springs.

Marshall closes out the season at Mount Pleasant while Sulphur Springs closes out against Hallsville.  A Mav win over MP coupled with a SS loss to Hallsville will give the final playoff slot to Marshall.  A Marshall loss and a SS win will give the slot to the Wildcats.  If both Marshall and SS win....  or lose.... they will need a showdown to determine who makes the playoffs.

-----------------------------------------------------

DISTRICT 16-5A BASEBALL

Whitehouse (11-2), (22-5-1)
Lufkin (10-3), (21-6-1)
Nacogdoches (9-4), (22-7)
Huntsville (6-7), (13-16)
Jacksonville (3-10),  (11-16)
Tyler (0-13), (8-20)

Games 13
Whitehouse beat Huntsville 4-3
Nacogdoches beat Jacksonville 8-1
Lufkin beat Tyler 17-0

This district is loaded with good baseball teams.  WH still sits at the top with a one game lead over LP.  Nac sits in third and Huntsville clinched the #4 slot with Jacksonville's loss on Friday.  Each team has two more games.... and the race for 1-2-3 should be a good one.  LP is 1 game behind WH.... Nac is one game behind LP.  Looks to be a photo finish as each awaits the other to slip up.

Well "those" you spoke with really weren't paying very close attention then. While it wasn't a large score disparity it wasn't really that close of a call especially statistically.  Marshall

Someone from Whitehouse complaining about class and sportsmanship... That's irony. Sports or not.

Why be a douche about it?  Nac doesn’t pick their district.  They compete where they are put... and they dominate.  just say congrats and move on.  Don’t see the point in trying to lessen thei

Big games this week....

Tuesday:
Marshall Vs. Mount Pleasant:  A Marshall win and a SS loss gives Marshall the 4 seed.  A loss and a SS win gives the Wildcats the 4 seed.  If both win...or lose... a tie breaker will be needed to determine the playoff team.

Sulphur Springs Vs. Hallsville- A Win and a Marshall loss gives SS the 4 seed.  A loss and a Marshall win gives the Mavericks the 4 seed.  If both win...or lose... a tie breaker will be needed to determine the playoff team.

Longview Vs. Pine Tree- This game means nothing really.  Playing for pride.

-----------

Whitehouse Vs. Tyler Tuesday and Friday:  WH has a one game lead over Lufkin for the district lead. One more win guarantees the Wildcats at least a share of the district championship.  A sweep of Tyler gives them the title outright.

Lufkin Vs. Nacogdoches Tuesday and Friday:  Lufkin trails WH by one game.  But LP also only has a 1 game lead over Nac.  This makes the series HUGE for both.  It could not only determine the 1/2 seed... but possibly the 2/3 seed.

Huntsville Vs. Jacksonville Tuesday and Friday: This series means little.  Huntsville has clinched the #4 seed.  Jacksonville is has been eliminated.

-----

Looks like Mother Nature is going to be difficult tonight.

Hopefully most of the games will get played.

Tuesday night was a wild ending for 15-5A as Sulphur Springs upset #7 Hallsville to keep their playoff hopes alive...for about half an hour.  Marshall overcame a 7-4 deficit in the 7th inning to claim a thrilling 9-7 win over Mount Pleasant on the road.... saving their season.  Texas High, Marshall, and SS were all tied for third place at (7-5) in district play... but head-to head gave the #3 slot to Texas High (3-1), #4 to Marshall (2-2), and Sulphur Springs (1-3) saw their season end even though they had upset the Bobcats.  Hallsville is the district champion...but closed out with 2 losses in their last three games to Marshall and SS.  Longview claims the #2 slot headed into the playoffs.

Tuesday nailed down a few things in the district standings/playoff race.  Nac's loss to Lufkin cemented the Dragons into the #3 slot with Huntsville having already clinched the #4 seed no matter how their final two games finish with Jacksonville.  WH clinched no less than a tie for the district title with their win over Tyler.  Lufkin can still force a tie with a win over Nac on Friday coupled with a WH loss to Tyler.  Otherwise, WH will get the top slot and LP will be the runner up.

I see this going either way.  It should be a great one !!

I think it’s the most even series of the four.

Hallsville SHOULD roll Huntsville.

WH and Lufkin SHOULD easily take care of Marshall and Texas High.

But Nac and Longview could be a great series.

Huntsville girls are very good although the rest of the district was pretty average. Probably the only win 16-5A will get over 15-5A.  On another note Mav, Lufkin baseball is 23-6-1. I know that's insignificant in the long run.

I think 15-5A is going to get the best of 16-5A  in softball.

But 16-5A looks loaded in baseball. 3 teams with 20+ wins. That’s impressive.

The thing about 16-5A baseball,  if Huntsville was in another 5A district they would probably have fared better.  I saw them play twice, they are a decent team. They beat Jacksonville 10-7 last night.

You know Whitehouse has beaten Nacogdoches 3 times in district, all close games. Lufkin beat WH 2 of 3. I still think Nacogdoches is the better team of the two when I've watched them both play in Lufkin.  Hard to figure baseball.  I mean WH only beat Tyler 2-1 on Tuesday???

To me, Whitehouse is the better team and this district is playing out the way you would think it would.

Whitehouse starts many sophomores and freshman, battled injuries, suspensions, and still in first. Coach Branch is doing something right over there.

They’re scrappy, fun, and play baseball the old school way.....the right way. When a team wins the championship of any baseball league they don’t say, “they only beat them 2-1.” They beat em, plain and simple. Baseball is about managing the ebbs and flows. Whitehouse has done that quite nicely up to this point.

Well, I can't disagree with you.  My only observance has been when Lufkin and WH or NAC have played during the season. Lufkin is also loaded with sophs and their JV has been phenomenal this year. I see a continued rivalry, at least through next season with all three programs from Lufkin, Nac, WH and even Huntsville. We will see where everyone lands after realignment.

Lufkin tops Nacogdoches tonight in a well played game, 1-0 in Nac.  Great pitching and defense by both teams. Lufkin finished 12-3 in district and are 24-6-1 on the season.

Lufkin girls softball lost 10-0 and 9-2 to Sulphur Spring in bi district play. Lufkin girls end their year at 12-13.
