Last election was a massive revolt against the establishment....this one will be even more massive......

The last several elections have been the same.  45% of the population will vote one way regardless of candidate, and 45% will vote the other way regardless of candidate.  So over $2 billion is spent trying to sway at least 6% or the remaining 10% to swing their way.  Neither candidate is doing much in this area right now.  They are both rallying the 45% they already have.  The first one to take a risk and spend time & money on the middle 10% will win.  The polls now don’t mean anything just like they didn’t in 2016.  It’s pretty much 0-0 at the start of the 2nd half.

Hispanic guy on Fox this morning who accurately predicted Hispanic vote in 2016 says he believes President Trump will get 42% of the Hispanic vote in 2020 .... well up from 2016 numbers ....

Same thing is happening in the black community ... Trump's numbers are significantly up there as well ....

If you think something like 53-47 is a landslide then ok.  Biden will get no less than 45% of the National vote and Trump won’t swing all of the 10% in the middle.

Im talking electoral votes....those are ALL that matter......

Schools decision on eligibility of students doing on-line learning.

1. If kid is not a starter = not eligible.

2. If kid is an All-District type of player = eligible.

I disagree.  We are in a lawsuit happy society.  With all the risk added to this school year from Covid, I believe the ISD’s will use common sense approach as to not add another possible suit.  I believe parents who choose the virtual learning route will have to supply some sort of supporting documentation as to why they can’t attend class but can participate in UIL events.  For instance, a student in tennis, golf & cross country (who can comfortably maintain safe social distancing during practice and competition) could go through this process, support their stance, and likely get approval.  John Doe All District Middle Linebacker who is just looking for an easy ride in the fall will have a tougher time.  So will the ISD’s tell John Doe’s parents that if he wants to participate in football he has to attend class in person or prove why he should get the exemption (which he can’t prove)?

Lots of schools have over 2000 students..........So, going to such schools, a  football player may cross paths during a week of let’s say 800 of those students if he goes to actual school.
If he goes to class online but goes to football practice, he may cross paths/practice with 150.
Some parents are bound to point this out to administrators.

IMO the school districts cannot make the “right” decision because they will be criticized for whatever they do. Let the kids play sports and Covid runs through the locker room and a student passes away, the same people calling for football right now, will jump on the why did you let the play band wagon.

Teenagers aren’t dying from COVID

false information.

Ok... it’s EXTREMELY rare. There’s only been 13 deaths across the entire United States from ages 5-14 as of June 17th and I highly doubt those were all healthy kids. But we have people wanting to shut schools down. Wake up people! The cancel culture has got to stop!

Not in large, but all it takes is one or a school to have an outbreak.

Ok so if there’s an outbreak, then that particular district takes necessary measures just like we’ve done with the seasonal flu in the past. Why is that solution all of a sudden being thrown out the window by some? People that think it’s no big deal to go to exclusive online learning and no big deal to just cancel extracurricular activities don’t have a clue about what kids need. The damage will be much more significant than a virus that has a 99.9% recovery rate. If nothing else, the parents should have the right to choose!

Tell that to the family of  17-year-old. Jameela Dirrean-Emoni Barber.  She contracted and died from Covid-19.  She was a student at Lancaster ISD.  She was healthy and played school sports , including softball.  Imagine if school was not shutdown, and UIL had not shutdown sports. They were however, so it was still tragic, but no controversy.    Imagine the controversy if those two things haven't happened.  No school wants to find themselves in this situation.

Not disagreeing with you at all on this. School districts are in between a rock and a hard place. I don’t know anyone who is excited about the idea of loss of more extracurricular events or virtual learning.

What has made people throw out the philosophy of just cleaning the schools? IMO, it’s a couple of things. 1. We know the numbers and deaths have risen recently. 2.  Lawsuit happy society. 3. Too many unknowns about Covid.
