What a great win, good for the team, and really good for the fans, hats off to Metzel, this team is improving as the year goes on, unlike the last several years, still cant understand why they dont give Ward more carries, kid is electric, either way this was a great game to watch, I think if we can clean up the penalties, and the Oline, can continue to improve, I can see us going several rounds.....just an fyi, the strip on Gilmer sideline, was a good strip, game ball Tennison/Fluellen!

fluellen is a player

It was just an awesome game to watch. They never gave up and played hard all night. So glad they were able to walk away with the W. I was glad to see our O Line hold up long enough to make some plays open up. Good Perfect Effort put in by the Buckeyes on both sides of the ball. A little more polishing in the playoffs and they will even be more deadly.

I am one of the 38 folks who picked Gilmer.

I felt with some key PG players missing, the game being in Gilmer and PG having trouble defending the pass all year long all those things added up equaled a Buckeye victory.

PG is definitely a notch below their level if play from the last couple of years - different QB!

We had a total of 450 yrds and PG had a total of 307 yrds. I would like to see how many yards they had after halftime.

That d though.  It was on fire second half.   Replay those two pick plays and this game would of been over early.  Seems like gilmer as a whole are hitting a stride at the perfect time.  Go bux!

My thoughts exactly! Tennison and Fluellen took over the game in the second half and Gilmer defense shut PG down mostly.

I got this one right even down to the point spread.  Going in I just felt losing Jackson would have an impact in the game.  Being in Gilmer gave the Bux an advantage.  BT proved to be the difference maker through the air and on the ground.  He will be my pick for offensive player of the week in East TX.  PG’s inability to effectively throw the ball allowed Gilmer to man up outside and sell out to stop the run, which they did in the second half.  We will most likely see this game again in round four.

Smash-Mouth Football at its best. A lot of fun to see.

A couple of quick observations:

1. Great game, but Gilmer has to be the team coming away with all the confidence. Lost the turnover battle, gave up a TD right before half after an awful roughing the passer penalty,  and still won the game. If they can clean up the mistakes I’d have to give them an edge in the rematch.
2. 2nd half showed why Tennison is so special. He made some great passes, but the key was his legs. When he’s on the edge with a run - pass option, he’s incredibly dangerous.
3. PG freshman is crazy good, maybe the 2nd or 3rd best player on offense. I remember the PG junior high coach actually warning the Gilmer coaches about him in 7th grade. He has Clear D1 potential if he continues to develop
4. Dylan Fluellen.  Enough said.

5. Gilmer’s defense made great 2nd half adjustments. The Dline played great, and almost all of the kids are underclassmen. Really great game from Gilmer D.

overall, a great game and a lot of fun to watch.

And just think...BT has another year on his contract and Baby Tennison will be a freshman & fast as a speeding bullet
