There was a running back wearing number 4 who looked real good. The few passes that were on there looked pretty good as well. Should be a solid team.

Quinlan Ford should also be a solid playoff team in 4A D2. Good practice for the kids for sure.Β As far as the alleged Aledo QB on the other site, I have no idea who theyβre talking about. Both kids we played at QB were MV kids.Β

chevyman Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Without knowing how good the two opponents of MV have been in the first two scrimmages, i dont have any issue with saying they have the capability of being as good or better than last year. I was very impressed with what i saw from both the passing game and running game in the film i have watched. I have no doubt that they will easily move into the top 10 as they did last year by the time they come to Raiderland. Looking forward to getting this season going. 1

SH would probably be considered an avg 3A D1 team. Β Certainly a playoff team in many districts. Β MV will have a larger run threat this year at RB. Β It wonβt be all on the QB. Β I know an injury caused some of that last year, but still the QB did most of the damage. Β I think you will see they have more weapons this year at all skill positions which will create some matchup problems for many of the teams they play. Β Add in the up-tempo style and it will really be a problem in the first 5 opponents. Β Better learn how to substitute to slow it down! Β We scrimmaged them last year too and I think they are more polished this year. Didnβt need the QB run to make the Off work. Β Defensively they arenβt going to scare you getting off the bus, but they are fast & physical. Β Maybe a tad out of control/positionΒ at times which could lead to a big play over the top orΒ via a screen or reverse. Β Losing our QB when we did made them look much better in the live quarter because we were only running a portion of the offense. Β But they still made the plays.

I just see those skill guys being featured much more this year and thats where my opinion leans towards the idea of them being better. Those skill guys were there last year but it was typically all the Nellor show, and not to take away anything from him but they have some serious talent that will be on display this year without him. 1

Correct. Β I think you will see more RPO that goes to the RB or pass vs the QB pulling it and running. Β They are going to be a handful for most opponents. Β Again the biggest threat is injures.

Excited to see some of those guys shine a little bit. Glad we made it through the first two scrimmages healthy.Β

I also think with Briles gone, they will be able to "fly under the radar" if thats even possible coming off a semifinal appearance.Β

gamewatcher63 Posted August 27, 2021 Author Posted August 27, 2021 Just my thoughts before theΒ season starts... I think MV, Mineola, Pottsboro, and Winnsboro will be fighting for the 4 play-off spots with Commerce and Rains as the wildcards. There will be some upsets that I'm sure will throw the whole play-off spot line-up into limbo until the very last district games are played...basically like last year. Hopefully Howe and Bonham gets some traction and maybe get some wins in pre-season.... Β Just like last year I think 2 teams will be sitting home that would have made the play-offs in alot of other districts...Good luck to the teams and lets have some spirited games with sportsmanship and leave it all out on the field....5-3A D1 state champs or bust!!!!
