😆 you better check Gunters record vs Waskom. You better hope you don't play Waskom this year and take another L.

Those records mean nothing. All those hurricane kids are gone now LOL!

Now thats a stupid comment.  I went to school with the parents of most of the kids on the 14' and 15' state championship teams. No move ins on either team. Gunter plays in a weak TobinFrost region. Its a fact. If they beat Canadian this year they will lose to whoever makes it to the state game from this side of Dallas.

Even conceding that region II is weak (for the sake of argument), this doesn't actually say anything about the quality of Gunter.  If Gunter was barely squeezing out of this region, maybe you'd have a point - but they aren't.  They have been region II champions 5 years in a row - and in those 5 regional championship games, they have won by an average of 30 points per game.  And if you take into consideration that in those games, 56 of the points came came during junk time against 2nd string, 3rd string, or JV pull-ups (Gunter up 45-0 before backups gave up 22 to Winona, up 62-0 before giving up 13 to New Diana, and up 54-7 before giving up 21 to Eastland), Gunter was essentially 40+ points better than their regional final opponent on average for 5 consecutive years.  While you might be able to make the argument that the region was weak, you can't make the argument that it is the reason Gunter came out of that region.  It's a bit silly to say Gunter is lucky to be in region II when they are 40+ points better than their region II championship game opponent on average over the course of the last five years.

Gunter is a very good program. My point is its easier to stay healthy enough to get to the semis and sc games when you aren't being challenged by stiff competition within your region or district.

I'm not sure there is a correlation there.  Gunter has been beat up going into the playoffs and into championship games, and they have won some of those games and lost some of those games - just like every other elite teams can say.  Newton, Waskom, Canadian.  Gunter lost one of their best players (if not THE best) for the season in a pre-season scrimmage a couple years back - and nobody blamed their loss to Canadian later in the state championship game on that.  Injuries happen - and I have not seen any evidence that they are more likely to happen against better teams.

Every team that goes on to make it to the semis or state championship games makes the majority of their opponents look weak leading into those late rounds with very few exceptions.

Who's going to beat them?

1. Canadian

2. Franklin who brings everyone back and only lost to Canadian by 1.

3. Waskom lost to Franklin by 1.

4. Daingerfield lost to Waskom by 1.

5. Elysian Fields who split games with Waskom losing by only 3 in a shootout in the playoffs.

6. Newton (because they are Newton.)

How bad did Canadian beat Gunter in the semi's again?
