If you wanted to post a story about "This Week in the WAC" it could be how the conference is about to see a shakeup already...

There will be a vote about adding McNeese and Incarnate Word.

Also, there are rumors that Sam is "likely" to be added to C-USA...

That November 18th game will be a fun one, the Aggie Head Coach going against the school that gave him his 1st step in the ladder to where he is today.

I don't think that SFA, Tarleton, Lamar, Abilene Christian are ready for the FBS yet--it'll be a beating for years, I know they are talking about Sam going somewhere also, but there is a lot of difference between Div 1a and Div 1aa. Like the difference between a JV football team and a Varsity football team. You hope someday to get the JV up to speed, but it takes a couple of years.

SHSU would probably be okay.  Look at App St, Coastal Car, and Liberty...  With the right funding in the right conference, you can jump right in and do fine.

Sam might be okay, but they will need lots of money.

App State is in there second run at Div 1/FBS--they were in the Southern Conference from 1971-1981, went back and built their program up in the FCS, then came back to the FBS in 2014. Where they have gone to 6 bowl games in 7 years. Won the power house Sun Belt Conference 2 times outright, shared the title 2 times. Placed in the top 3 all 7 years, And have attended some great Bowl games I know we all sit around and watch every year. I know you and I are both excited about watching the "DOLLAR GENERAL BOWL game this year.

2014 2014 Scott Satterfield Sun Belt 3rd 7 5 Ineligible[A 9]
2015 2015 2nd 11 2 Won Camellia Bowl vs. Ohio, 31–29
2016 2016 T–1st 10 3 Won Camellia Bowl vs. Toledo, 31–28
2017 2017 T–1st 9 4 Won Dollar General Bowl vs. Toledo, 34–0
2018 2018[A 10] 1st T-1st 11 2 Won New Orleans Bowl vs. Middle Tennessee 45–13
2019 2019[A 11] Eliah Drinkwitz 1st T-1st 13 1 Won New Orleans Bowl vs. UAB 31–17 19 18
2020 2020 Shawn Clark 3rd 2nd 9 3 Won Myrtle Beach Bowl vs. North Texas 56–28

But that being said, they would NOT be considered a "Bottom Dweller" in their conference.

Just incase you want to see the difference in that huge $200k their conference used to get compared to what they get for playing in the amazing Dollar General Bowl... and remember they were competing for national championships on the FCS level... It is clear that it just wasn't worth the money...

Yes looks like the Conference collected around 40 million in exit fees from departing schools also

Rumor on the street Conf USA is offering portion of that to the schools it is recruiting

Apparently immediately SH may collect 4-5 million bucks that will double our football budget
