15-5A BASEBALL STANDINGS
Hallsville (10-1), (18-4-2)
Texas High (7-4), (14-8)
Mount Pleasant (6-4), (12-8-3)
Longview (5-5), (15-7-1)
Sulphur Springs (4-6), (7-13)
Pine Tree (3-7), (7-17)

Marshall (1-9), (9-13)

Game 12
Mount Pleasant beat Texas High 6-4
Hallsville beat Pine Tree 11-1
Longview beat Marshall 7-1
Sulphur Springs- OFF

MP got a walk-off homerun victory over Texas High.... pulling the Yellow Tigers within half a game of the Orange Tigers.  This is setting up a fantastic race for playoff seeding between the two.  Hallsville has wrapped up the district championship thanks to their win over PT.... and Longview maintains a 1 game lead over Sulphur Springs with just two games remaining.

MP closes at Marshall Tuesday and hosting PT
THS is off Tuesday and hosts Marshall on Friday
Longview travels to PT on Tuesday and hosts SS on Friday
Sulphur Springs hosts Hallsville and then travels to Longview

MP can pull into a tie for second place with a win over Marshall since THS is idle.  If they both win Friday, a tie-breaking game would be needed to determine the #2 and #3 seeds headed into the playoffs.  A slip by either could cost them that #2 seed.  Longview can clinch the #4 slot with a win over PT or a SS loss to Hallsville on Tuesday.  IF Longview falls to PT and SS beats Hallsville... that would set up a monster battle between the Lobos and Wildcats on Friday.  A Lobo win over SS would clinch for Longview.... and SS win would set up a tie-breaker game to determine the final playoff slot.

---------------------------

15-5A SOFTBALL STANDINGS
Sulphur Springs (12-0), (22-1-2)
Hallsville (10-2), (19-6-1)
Mount Pleasant (7-5), (18-7-0)
Longview (7-5), (16-9-1)
Marshall (3-9), (13-16-2)
Texas High (3-9), (9-14)
Pine Tree (0-12), (5-17-1)

Game 14
Hallsville beat Pine Tree 10-0
Longview beat Marshall 3-1
Mount Pleasant beat Texas High 6-4
Sulphur Springs- OFF

MP and Longview are knotted up third place at (7-5) having split their series in district play.  A tie-breaking game will be played to determine who will take the #3 slot and who will settle into the #4 slot.  Sulphur Springs was unblemished in district play while Hallsville claimed the #2 spot.

----------------

16-5A BASEBALL STANDINGS
Lufkin (12-1), (20-5-1)
Nacogdoches (11-2), (17-6-3)
Whitehouse (9-4), (17-10)
Jacksonville (4-9), (8-16)
Huntsville (3-10), (8-19)
Tyler (0-13), (1-18)

Game 13
Lufkin beat Tyler 12-0
Nacogdoches beat Jacksonville 3-1
Whitehouse beat Huntsville 6-0

The final week of the season is setting up to be a doozy.  LP is holding a one game lead for the district title over Nac.  Whitehouse has come on strong the last few weeks and has secured the #3 slot while Jax has a one game lead over Huntsville for the fourth and final playoff berth.

Nac and Lufkin face off Tuesday and Friday-  An LP win on Tuesday clinches the title for the Panthers.  A Nac win on Tuesday sets up a tie first and a winner-take-all game on Friday.  Wowza.

WH faces Tyler.... a sweep by the Wildcats coupled with a Lufkin sweep of Nac would put Nac and WH in a tie for second place..... Nac would have the tiebreaker having won 2 of their 3 games Vs. WH.

Jacksonville faces Huntsville-  A Jax win on Tuesday would clinch the final playoff spot for the Indians.  However.... a Huntsville win Tuesday would set up a tie for fourth and a winner-take-all game on Friday.

Fun stuff.

16-5A SOFTBALL STANDINGS
Huntsville (10-0), (22-10)
Lufkin (7-3) (18-8-1)

Whitehouse (5-5), (18-14)
Jacksonville (2-8), (2-17-1)
Tyler (0-10), (2-16)

Game 10
Lufkin best Nacogdoches 10-1
Huntsville beat Jacksonville 7-0
Whitehouse beat Tyler 14-0

Everyone is locked in for playoff seedings.  No ties....no surprises on Friday.  Ready for the playoffs.....

---------------------------------

SOFTBALL PLAYOFF MATCHUPS
Huntsville (22-10) Vs. Longview (16-9-1) OR Mt. Pleasant (18-7) loser
Sulphur Springs (22-1-2) Vs. Whitehouse (18-14)
Lufkin Vs. Longview (16-9-1) OR Mt. Pleasant (18-7) winner
Nacogdoches (17-9-1) Vs. Hallsville (19-6-1)

After Longview and MP settle up their tie.... the playoffs will be set.

------------------------

PROJECTED/CONVULUTED BASEBALL PLAYOFF MATCHUPS
Hallsville Vs. Jacksonville/Huntsville winner
Lufkin/Nac winner Vs. Longview
Lufkin/Nac loser Vs. THS/MP loser
Whitehouse Vs. THS/MP winner

As you can see... things are still pretty cloudy with just two games remaining for everyone.....  this could really come into focus after Tuesday (or get even messier).  Either way..... this last week won't be short on excitement all over East Texas as folks battle for playoff slots and seedings.

Lufkin defeats Nacogdoches tonight in NAC 4-2 and are the 16-5A District Champs. The two teams will meet again this Friday in Lufkin @ 7 PM.  Lufkin is now 22-5-1 on the year and 13-1 in district.  Nacogdoches is now 18-7-3 and 11-3 in district and have the #2 seed.

Marshall (1-10), (9-14)

Game 13
Hallsville beat Sulphur Springs 14-1
Pine Tree beat Longview 5-4
Mount Pleasant beat Marshall 8-4
Texas High- OFF

AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME!!!!  Hallsville has already wrapped up the district championship... after that, everything else is still up in the air.

Texas High and MP are tied up for second place headed into the regular season finale.  MP closes at home Vs. PT on Friday and THS hosts Marshall.  Should they both win (or both lose) on Friday a tie-breaking game will be needed to determine the second and third place.  If one wins and the other loses on Friday..... the winner will take the #2 seed and the loser will take #3.

Longview’s upset loss to PT on Tuesday prevented the Lobos from clinching the fourth and final playoff spot.  Instead it will all come down to Friday as they host Sulphur Springs.  A Lobo win on Friday clinches the playoffs for Longview.  A sulphur Springs win over Longview would create a tie for fourth, forcing a tie breaker game in a winner-take-all for the playoffs.

But....hold the press.... if Sulphur Springs beats Longview Friday AND PT was to upset MP Friday.... a THREE way tie would be created fourth place.  A three way playoff would be needed to determine the final playoff spot.

Marshall..... a region semi-finalist last season, is the lone team eliminated from playoff contention.

It may not seem like a big deal to a lot of you, but congratulations to the Nac Lady Dragons Softball team. The Lady Dragons made the playoffs for the first time in 10 years and fought a very tough softball program in round 1 of the playoffs. Game 1 they looked like a team that hasn't played in a big game in a decade. Last night the Lady Dragons played a very good game and came up short. This team won more regular season games than they have in the last 5 years combined. They are only losing 3 seniors and only 1 that starts, they will be adding 3 freshman next year that are high end talent. This will add to, the 3 freshman starters they had this year. One is a pitcher that is even to, or better than the one they had starting this year.  Oh and this years starter was a freshman and the pitcher coming up from middle school is her sister!!

Great Season Lady Dragons!!!

I don't expect much from the Lobos in their playoff series against Lufkin, but glad to see us making the post season in back to back seasons for the first time since 2007/2008. Frustrating season with as much talent as we had returning. Just can't get hits.

Jacksonville’s Aiden Gay, ETBU football signee, headed to Austin in shot put. Haven’t seen any coverage on regional meet in newspapers. I’m sure this district had other athletes going (?)
