Ok things are pretty clear headed into week 11. First of all, here are the standings along with week 11 opponents.Β
Β 1. Timpson (8-0, 3-0) vs ShelbyvilleΒ

2. Joaquin (5-3, 2-1) at GarrisonΒ

3. Shelbyville (6-3, 2-1) at TimpsonΒ

4. Garrison (3-4, 1-2) vs JoaquinΒ

5. San Augustine (1-9, 0-4) bye. Eliminated from playoff contention.Β

The top 4 are locked into playoff spots. Theoretically, Shelbyville can capture the district title with a win at Timpson. Theoretically, I can put wings on my black lab mutt and make her fly. The likelihood of either event happening is pretty close. So for now, let’s run with Timpson nailing down the 1 seed and work out the rest. That puts Shelbyville at 2-2 with losses to Joaquin and Timpson. Joaquin earns the two seed with a win at Garrison. Under that scenario, it’s 2. Joaquin, 3. Shelbyville, 4. Garrison. If Garrison beats Joaquin, it would put all three teams at 2-2 in a 3-way tie for 2nd. It then goes to a points tiebreaker. For the record, Shelbyville beat Garrison by 6 and Joaquin beat Shelbyville by the same margin. Which leaves very little wiggle room. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the tiebreaker rules can tell us what happens if Garrison wins by 6. Just for grins, let’s explore the scenarios where Shelbyville beats Timpson. Timpson maxed out the tiebreaker on Joaquin, so Shelbyville would win it based on the head-to-head. That would mean 1.Shelbyville 2. Garrison 3. Joaquin/ Garrison winner 4. Joaquin/ Garrison loser. Clear as mud? You’re welcome.Β

Most likely if Garrison wins by 6 and Shelbyville loses it would go to a coin flip unless the district goes to overall point differential or something else. Most times a 3 way tie goes points differential then if still even coin flip. But district 10 may have their own rules on this.Β
