Gunter vs Sunnyvale

You can’t tell. There are a lot of Gunter haters on here. Don’t know why…..jealousy I guess. Gunter is a top notch program.  I love their schemes and the heart they play with.  If they lose, here goes the bashing. Fortunately, they don’t lose often. They are fun to watch.  You can never count em out.

As for Celina (who have won so many state championships), when we went to our first one in 16, theyre cops escorted us thru town and their students were holding signs supporting us as we drove thru.  When we won ( at midnight) , their cops excorted thru town again.  Was incredible. ty

It was awesome.  I have great respect for our neighbors to the south - Celina and Prosper.  Both have out grown us but that was a nice gesture.  I hope they get #9.

I dont mind playing Celina.  That wasnt my point.  I dont understand why they would want to play us.  I dont understand why they would want to play Paul Pewitt.  Would be like us playing a good 2A div 2 team ( say Windthorst).  Jh and jv games would be rediculous.

Sometimes you take a game to fill a schedule -- I'm sure neither really wanted to play but it was a realignment year with Pewitt coming off a state runner-up finish and Celina getting to the second round, losing to the eventual runner-up and bringing back a bunch of kids. It's going to be tough to find X number of games, especially on the fly when you don't know how big your district is gonna be. Celina really got screwed in being in that five-teamer and needing to find six willing opponents.

Pewitt was celinas first win last year. 55-0. It will be the same or worse this year. So much for playing up. Gunter always plays up and does well.

It'll be ugly again but should be.  Pewitt plays mainly both ways.  Just 2 programs that respect each other.  Just like Pewitt respects Gunter and Gunter should respect Pewitt.

My comments were not anything against Gunter.  I like how they play hard nosed football.  Very well coached.

Good start to their seasons, looking forward to tomorrow night. Hoping to see GT Varsity show out.

Me too !! It’s time to roll. Glad the lower levels kicked tail.  TPW.

You know what? It was actually GT Freshman 41 to VA JV 7. VA TD with a little left on the clock. I was there and saw it even. Sorry!

A good test for both teams coming outta the gate.  Gunter can definitely "play up".  The real question is can Sunnyvale come out ready to play a team like Gunter that has an established program and just reloads each season. I noticed Gunter shows 49 on their roster and Sunnyvale shows 59........not much difference there.  Best 15 players is what really matters.......and of course the coaching.

Fieszel one of the best coaches in the state

SV line was huge on both sides of the ball.

Big boys sucking wind by half. I’m convinced that most of the injuries were just attempts at slowing the game down. SV was a strong, well coached team. Not taking anything away from them, but GT just never took their foot off the gas.
