I was looking for another purpose but couldn't help but notice some dramatic things...

Texarkana TX 35,629          Texarkana AR 29,473        Total = 65,102          was 37,389 and 30,155 = 67,544 in 2016

Tyler 105,995   (metro 237,027)       was 101,946

Longview 81,638    (metro 233,358)        was 82,184

DFW metro 7.63 million      was 5.12 million

Houston metro 7.12 million      was 4.94 million

Austin metro 2.28 million      was 1.36 million

San Antonio 2.56 million       was 1.76 million

the metro areas are exploding outward...especially DFW, Houston, and Austin!!!

hence the growth we are seeing in some of these outer school districts...

honestly, if you just ride around East TX, its clear that the only city with any real significant growth has been Tyler (Mostly south Tyler) and its surrounding areas (Bullard, Fint/Gresham, Lindale).  Also a little growth in Northern Longview and Hallsville.  Its the only reason Lee/Legacy is the only 6a school left in East TX.

Most of areas outside the big metro areas are staying about the same or declining.  To be honest, the huge growth of the Hispanic population is really what is keeping most of the steady population of the smaller cities and towns and likely one of the main reasons for huge growth in the metro areas.

Pretty obvious what's happening here...

yup. It’s sad and pathetic.

And it doesn’t last.  When it’s over… their turn at decline will come too.

Ask Pine Tree, ask Tyler Lee, list goes on and on.

Google the city name with 2020 Census...it will give their latest and for many it will give the 2010 there...some you may have to search a little in the demographic breakdown.

Bullard is now 4,077...was 2,463.

If only they'd stick around, roll up their sleeves, and help these communities improve.

But, alas... "NIMBY"

Argyle is just shy of 4300, but the AISD also runs into some areas that are now the City of Flower Mound.  One of those areas includes a huge parcel of land currently being proposed for development of tons of homes and townhomes.......but being met with lots of opposition from the AISD and community.  Still in negotiation process at this time.

Argyle is 4,731 now...up from 3,282...but I agree that most of the school district is drawn from other areas

yea.  At Lee, the they are still living in the community. The issue is more about parents chosing local privates and charters. But I get what you mean. cause it will happen everywhere else.
